The Trump administration agreed to send around $35 million in military aid to a Central African military unit previously accused of war crimes as part of a wider arrangement to deport third-country migrants to the region, U.S. officials and congressional aides said. Great scoop from @RobbieGramer: wsj.com/world/africa/trumps-…

NEWS: Trump admin officials want US companies to accept the Russian diesel currently crossing the Atlantic. But American firms want nothing to do with it. They’re very scared of the legal and reputational risk, industry sources tell me and @jstein_sun washingtonsun.com/whitehouse…

Today we’re announcing @DoorDash’s intent to acquire @Instacart. Both DoorDash and Instacart share a mission to help local businesses succeed. Together, we could give grocers and retailers of every size the best of both in one service: DoorDash's delivery network and Instacart’s grocery and fulfillment technology, along with the advertising and AI tools each company has built. Until closing, DoorDash and Instacart will keep operating as separate, independent companies. Find out on how we’re helping Main Street compete and keeping more dollars local: shoplocaltogether.com For important additional information, read more here: ir.doordash.com/news/news-de…

Fun fact: in 2020 Florida Republicans paid (illegally) a man with the same last name as the Democrat incumbent to run in an effort to confuse voters and they actually succeeded. The Democrat lost by 32 votes and the sham candidate received 6,000 votes. Election was not overturned.

Don't look now, but the Trump admin beginning to get more aggressive on antitrust (after sitting one the sidelines for most of the last 18 months). Last week the playground deal. This week the staffing uniforms deal. Now the biggest: reuters.com/world/us-doj-is-…

I oppose GOP dirty tricks and also the Democractic move in Alaska
Dan Sullivan's internals must be pretty grim. Trump now says, "In Alaska, I don’t think Mary Peltola, after perpetrating such a terrible scheme, should be allowed to run, because this is ELECTION FRAUD. The Democrats cheated! They found a man named Dan Sullivan, put him on the Ballot, then lied to the Court, and said they didn’t know anything about it. That’s perjury. She shouldn’t be allowed to run, and neither should the FAKE Dan Sullivan! President DONALD J. TRUMP"

was talking about the iphone duo at dinner last night and had to explain to the fam that everything apple does others did years and years ago, often to apple fan laughter at the time remember when big android phones were phablets? many such cases
Why are you people upset there’s a touch screen on a MacBook Pro If you don’t like it don’t touch it. Why are people genuinely upset and against it. This is insane.

Introducing Gemini 4 Carbon, it's a big jump over Argon which we released just 2 weeks ago. Gemini 4 Carbon is SOTA on cyber, long horizon tasks, ranks #1 on Artificial Analysis V5, significantly improves on usability in domains like coding, and is more aligned.

Artificial Analysis finally moves to closed benchmarks (goodbye GDPval-AA), and finds that open weights models are falling further behind than they had previously measured. Take with a grain of salt, but matches the general vibes that we haven't seen a Fable-class open model.
Replying to @ArtificialAnlys
Open weights models fall further behind in v5. The leader, Kimi K3.1 Pro (weights not yet released), scores 46, 12 points behind the leader, compared with a 3-point gap in v4.3. Of models with released weights, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 (max) and GLM-5.3 (max) score highest at 32, and Claude Haiku 5.5 (max) outscores all of them. The gap is widest on HLE-Diamond and Terminal-Bench-Science, where Kimi K3.1 Pro scores 37% and 34%, compared with 68% for Claude Opus 5.5 (max) and 63% for GPT-6 Astra (max).
