A @GBRailfreight aggregate train passes Cossington in Leicestershire. 🚄
Did you know each freight train can move enough construction materials to build 30 houses?

🌹🚆 We unveiled our new commemorative poppy train on London Poppy Day yesterday as a tribute to the Armed Forces communities and all who served, ahead of Remembrance Day on 11 Nov.
We chose unit 700045 as a nod to 1945, the year when World War 2 officially ended.
Consider donating to the @PoppyLegion when you see them to make a real impact on veterans’ lives 🩶

We aim to reduce the impact of our work on your train services when looking after our railway.
Like this summer, when we avoided 60 weekends of disruption by carrying out £20m of work in just three weeks.
For better journeys.

We’re saddened by the death of Sir Patrick Stewart, who was born and grew up in Mirfield before achieving worldwide acclaim.
This year to mark our transformation work at Mirfield Station, a portrait of Sir Patrick, painted by Castle Hall Academy student Tendekayi Mukupe, was installed there as part of TRU’s Routes to Roots community arts project.
Today it feels like a particularly poignant tribute, in the community where his remarkable journey began.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone in Mirfield mourning his loss.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience we are causing @SouthernRailUK users between #Redhill and #Tonbridge this week, while we carry out emergency works to strengthen the embankment.
Project manager Nad Campbell has provided the below update on how things are progressing.
During the closure, we are also carrying out track maintenance work elsewhere on the route to help lift speed restrictions on the line when it reopens on Monday.
