Dexter Oliver saw last season curtailed due to injury. He’s started this one in fine form and is rewarded with a place in City squad tonight. His goalscoring exploits were touched on in this academy notebook (out every Saturday) last month. #MCFC tinyurl.com/32k4m9kr

Difficult night for City under 21s as they see their EFL Trophy hopes ended after a 5-0 loss to Port Vale. Not much in the way of positives to take other than a chance to learn lessons ahead of Youth League trip to RB Leipzig next week. #MCFC manchestereveningnews.co.uk/…

City U21s four down at the break and miles off it. Positives? Away end have been in fine voice. #MCFC

At Port Vale tonight as City U21s chase the win that will send them into the knockout stages of the EFL Trophy. If they’re going to get the victory they’ll have to do it the hard way as they’re 2-0 down inside the first 10 minutes. Updates ⬇️ #MCFC manchestereveningnews.co.uk/…

Enzo Maresca has said a couple of times this season about preferring to win 1-0. Judging by how his side defend I’m not sure the players agree with him! Error from Guehi but Villa swamped City in that opening 10 mins with intensity and aggression. #MCFC tinyurl.com/wz2u73b8

🔵 Enzo Maresca makes changes from midweek. ‼️ Haaland returns but midweek hat-trick hero Foden only a sub. ⚽️ No place for Allan in the squad with McAidoo preferred. 🤕 O’Reilly and Kovacic fit enough for the bench but Nunes absent. #MCFC manchestereveningnews.co.uk/…

Some character shown by City’s youngsters tonight. Three down with 15 minutes to play and they beat Stoke 4-3 in PL2. #MCFC

Make that 1-0 to Stoke. Sub Thomas Midwood, one of the smallest players on the pitch, heads in. #MCFac

City Under 21s tonight for me. Second half just under way and no goals. Matty Henderson-Hall caught my eye in the first half. Josh Wilson-Esbrand among the starters. #MCFC

City were looking for something different in the summer as they sought to strengthen out wide. Allan is certainly different! He’s a raw talent but one who City hope will develop over time into a key first team player. #MCFC manchestereveningnews.co.uk/…

Wrote this about Phil Foden after the weekend win over Ipswich. Tuesday night was him at his best, dynamic, wanting the ball, enjoying his football and showcasing his ability. More please. #MCFC manchestereveningnews.co.uk/…

⚽️ Bury in FA Cup replay action at Harrogate tonight with Fylde awaiting the winners. 🔵 Piece with former City youngster George Glendon from the weekend on coming through the ranks at the Etihad and the chance to make history at Bury. #MCFC manchestereveningnews.co.uk/…

🎙️New podcast is out now. If you like City chat and you like podcasts then you’ll be delighted! #MCFC

Phil Foden offered glimpses of what he can bring to City yesterday. You could see what that goal meant to him and he played with a freedom after scoring. Positive signs #MCFC manchestereveningnews.co.uk/…

🏆 FA Cup fourth qualifying round day. Huge match at Gigg Lane as Bury host Harrogate. Spoke to Bury midfielder, former City youngster and Blues season ticket holder George Glendon . He’s planning to hot foot it to the Etihad after the cup tie! #MCFC tinyurl.com/3e3svzes

First time I’ve watched a Burnley game in full this season. You won’t see two more defensively ridiculous goals conceded. No home win in a year is incredible. Feel for the fans who have spent money watching their club disintegrate into a shadow of what it was. #twitterclarets

Pep Guardiola was back at the Etihad last night. The result might not have been what he or anyone of a blue persuasion wanted but you can’t argue it wasn’t, in the words of the former City boss, f***ing fun. #MCFC manchestereveningnews.co.uk/…

If you fancy a bit of City listening pre match tonight then our latest pod is out. I open with a dubious Gwen Stefani reference but it does get better after that 😂 #MCFC
