Unreal Engine 5, meet WebGPU. Want to bring a UE game to the web? Then try Strata, our CI/CD distribution tool. Just a single prompt into Claude or Codex, and your UE game will be in WebGPU. Link here: app.stratavcs.com/ @alightinastorm

So at what point does Anthropic release a "Claude for X" for every industry and just decimate one industry one after the other? This should be chilling news for startups and incumbents alike. claude.com/solutions/legal

Big thanks to Wonder Interactive (also @AlexStLouis10) for releasing their Basis Universal->Unreal Engine code on GitHub. Another big update to basisu is landing soon (working on it non-stop): XUASTC decoding optimizations and optional multithreading/SIMD (all WASM compatible). Most codecs will support threaded transcoding and the XUASTC format is being extended to support independent row strips (to enable fully parallel decoding/transcoding). I planned ahead and the XUBC7 file format already supported seekable row strips. XUASTC arithmetic profile is 30-50% faster. I am also using AI to harden the entire library, starting with the transcoder.

Hey everyone, there’s been some questions going on around here about Epic’s use of AI in Unreal Engine development. I’ve answered some questions from the good folks at This Week in Videogames. TLDR: Yes we are using AI in UE development (as we actually mentioned back at Unreal Fest) and it’s helping with pretty much everything. thisweekinvideogames.com/new…

Eventually everything comes to browser
Cyberpunk 2077 is now running directly in a web browser. An unofficial fan project has recreated the game for the browser using WebGPU and WebAssembly. Unlike cloud gaming, the game is processed on your own device not streamed from a server. It can run on some PCs and even certain Android devices The project is still experimental, with long loading times and issues such as freezes or missing audio reported by some users. This not an official CD Projekt RED port, they likely will shut it down soon

Andy Jassy thinks AI agents will force companies to rewrite almost all their code. He’s probably right. AI will soon be finding, exploiting and fixing vulnerabilities faster than humans can even react. Are we becoming the bottleneck? 😳

In case you missed it! Re-upload from my YouTube channel. The future of UE6 is going to be based on open-standards, AI-assisted creation, and the intertwining of both UGC game ecosystems & game engines. Furthermore, I believe both the trend we've seen on X of game remixing and the injecting of one game into another with AI will be a major focus too.

I've updated my browser hockey game! Here's the newly shipped features/improvements. • Sharper mobile graphics, auto-tuned per device • Crowd flicker fixed • Crowd textures 3x smaller on phones/low settings • Testing Frost, my own texture codec for games, which I benchmarked and is nearly 4x smaller than Basis at the same quality! Play it here: playblueline.pages.dev

Wonder Interactive is using AI to make it easier to bring Unreal Engine games to the browser, potentially opening a new distribution channel for studios without requiring players to download a game client. Its new tool, Strata, lets developers use AI coding assistants to package, test and deploy Unreal Engine projects as playable browser links using WebAssembly and WebGPU. The platform can automate builds and GPU-based verification, while Wonder’s SimplyStream technology runs games using players’ local graphics hardware. The company has also demonstrated Epic’s City Sample running in a browser, with support for Unreal Engine 5 features Lumen and Nanite. For studios, this could make it easier to share playable demos, conduct external playtests and reach new audiences. Wonder is also laying the groundwork for AI-assisted debugging and performance optimization, with a longer-term ambition to build a direct-to-consumer marketplace for browser games. @deantak spoke with Alex St. Louis, cofounder and COO of Wonder Interactive, about Strata and the company’s vision for browser-based game distribution. “Tim Sweeney is right. AI is the future of game development, and every studio should be adopting it for every part of the workflow, because it’s an accelerant and a force multiplier. But agents need the right infrastructure to actually build, test and ship games. We’re giving them that, and making the browser a first-class platform for Unreal Engine,” St. Louis said. You have access to supercomputer-class computing power running directly in web browsers, with a potential audience of billions. This failure to recognize and capitalize on technological opportunities is part of why the game industry has been hemorrhaging developers by the 1,000's for years.

Wasm is always worse than native performance. Your games performance is tied to what browser+extensions the user installs IN ADDITION to their OS and hardware, terrible. Limited in any advanced OS integration. Any saved data lives in browser, not easily accessible. Retarded idea
