The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.
Fantastic !! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

🚨 Reminder: cuts to disability benefits affect everyone.
You might not need disability benefits today. Or tomorrow.
But you can become disabled at any time and find yourself in need of a financial safety net.

I am going into the Commons Chamber to speak against & vote against the Government’s appalling Bill to cut disability benefits. I urge all Labour MPs to do so. I was elected to protect disabled people not harm them.

I don’t tweet a great deal anymore, but felt the need as I’m Incredibly proud of my friend @RachaelMaskell for delivering a beautifully compelling, emotive and honest speech relating to her reasoned amendment to the UC and PIP Bill in the chamber just now.

PIP is not an in or out of work benefit. It’s a qualifying one. Would be good if people understood this. It needs proper reform

Media request from Reuters. They're looking to interview a disabled person who would lose their benefits under the cuts for their coverage of the vote. London preferred and must be comfortable with being interviewed on camera #TakingThePIP #DisabilityRebellion #WelfareNotWarfare

Just to be clear PIP is not an out of work benefit. It is fundamental to understand the absolute basics when we reform the welfare system

A Tale of Two MPs in the past 24 hrs.
Lisa Nandy misrepresents PIP on TV, betraying disabled people with unethical spin. Vicky Foxcroft quits Labour whip, standing tall on principle against cruel disability cuts. One misleads, one fights for justice. Which legacy would you want?
alison jane penfold retweeted
Note @lisanandy says PIP twice so this is not a slip-of-the-tongue, it shows a deep misunderstanding of benefits. Lisa neither represents her constitutents nor facts. Dangerous. Labour- why can't you find anyone to speak pro cuts who knows the system? Media ditto correcting her?
alison jane penfold retweeted
Lisa Nandy is either lying or has grossly misunderstood what her constitutents are saying here. PIP is NOT an out-of-work benefits. 1 in 5 people on PIP are in work. Noone on PIP WOULD EVER say this. Full stop. I will be complaining to the PCC.

Today the UK government published its Bill that will cut eligibility criteria for, and access to, Personal Independence Payments (PIP). Here is our response 👇

ALT blue graphic with white text which reads: PIP is essential to help cover the extra costs of living with a disability. Living with Parkinson’s costs more. On average, a UK household where someone has the condition is almost £22,000 worse off. The cuts are dangerous, counterproductive and ill conceived.
