So Tolkien fans; are you Team Jacob or Team Edward? Personally I'm on Team Get This Shit Out Of Our Fandom but I realize I'm the outlier here.
Hey everyone! There is a big lore question floating around the internet today: Did Sauron, Galadriel and Celeborn have a love triangle? Let’s find out what the lore says! youtu.be/LR_EjE4LxQE

Hint: they did.
I'll never understand why superhero movies don't use comic-accurate suits from the very beginning.

There are exceptional games which already exist for this vibe; Golden Sky Stories is fantastic, and best of all, it's a game with mechanics designed for it. D&D is not designed for this. It's a combat-focused skirmish game, and this is just a square peg for a round hole.
Obojima: Tales From Yatamon is up on D&D Beyond: $29. "Cozy" is the word used when dungeons are missing & PCs are exposed to no risk. Limpwristed classes include a Neko Duelist Fighter, Fortune Rogue, & Coven Patron Warlock. They don't matter because it's the Sims in a sanitized city.

When you write works for mass consumption set in a world created by someone else, you have a duty to represent that world as accurately to the manner in which the creator of it intended. Doing anything else is demeaning to the creator; especially the father of modern Fantasy.

As I said, I think the perceptions of Orcs SHOULD be challenged. I think the perception of ALL fantasy races should be challenged, reinterpreted, subverted. That's creative. That's cool. But you need to be creative enough to do so in a world of your own creation.

I don't object to this; Stan Nicholls' Orcs books were fantastic. But this isn't new. Those books came out in 1999. Warcraft challenged perceptions of Orcs and it came out before that. None of this is new. But here's the thing; none of them are set in Tolkien's world.
[NEWS] “Marnûkh is a character meant to challenge long-held perceptions of Orcs. He’s such a departure from past depictions that within the production, Marnûkh has picked up the catchy nickname, “the Orc with an arc.” #TheRingsOfPower

And here's the most important thing; maybe he would have. Maybe he'd intended to. That'd be fine. But he didn't. So, we should respect what he did create. It's not our world to try to change; it's Tolkien's. Anything else is fan fiction. Which is what Rings of Power is; fanfic.

In Tolkien's work, his Orcs are written to serve a specific narrative function, just like the elves, the dwarves, the humans. If Tolkien had intended the Orcs to serve another function, he would have written that. But he didn't.

Gaming was so much better when it was a hobby and not a corporate enterprise dumbed down for mass appeal and max book sales.
Gaming was so much better when it was full of gamers and not theater kids and failed Hollywood writers

Did you know that on the 6th of November 2026 the UK Government is banning the publication and possession of pornography depicting breath play, age-play, and incest? The maximum sentence for publication offences is five years imprisonment. This will affect publishers and consumers globally. The offences are, in simple terms: 1. Strangulation or suffocation. (2 years for possession, 5 years for publication) 2. Penetrative sexual activity between people pretending to be related. (2 years for possession, 5 years for publication) 3. Sexual activity between two people where (a reasonable person would think) at least one person is, or is pretending to be, under sixteen. (3 years for possession, 5 years for publication) I have provided criminal and obscenity law advice to UK and global creators, producers, platforms, and consumers on pornography publication and possession offences since 2006. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] for formal legal advice. gov.uk/guidance/crime-and-po…

Are you a Brujah who likes to fight or a Toreador who lives for art, but worried you're just a walking stereotype? Don't be; my latest article on the Cainite Commentary is all about stereotypes in Vampire and why they're nothing to be afraid of. cainitecommentary.substack.c…

Hey folks; please help me out by sharing this. I've recently acquired a VRChat avatar, and I'm looking to hire someone who could help customise it to suit my style and make it a bit unique, and downgrade it to run on my Quest 2. #vrchat #avatar #furry 1/4

For the downgrading, I'd need a copy of the avatar suitable to run on Quest 2. This would mean removing shaders, toning down the pyramids, removing any additional unnecessary scripts, just turning it into a straightforward bare-bones version of the above customised avatar.

This'd basically leave me with two copies; one for desktop, and a downgraded copy for Quest 2. If this is something you can do, please drop me a comment with a rough quote for how much. And if it's more than you can do, please share this so that it can find someone who can.

In my latest Cainite Commentary article, we discuss the concept of player character stereotypes in Vampire: the Masquerade, and tackle the question of what it means to be a 'basic Brujah' cainitecommentary.substack.c… #vampirethemasquerade #vamily #ttrpg #WoD #VtM
