For any VTubers or Streamers in general struggling with finding Mods! Been doing this for 6 years. Some things I’ve learned, • Mod people who have very rarely pushed boundaries, are proactive/have shown initiative, are active in chat (not just lurkers), and actually follow the rules. People who are reliably there • If you need more than one mod, pay attention to time zones. One person who covers afternoon EST might not be available for European afternoons • Mod people who genuinely enjoy and appreciate your content—not people who are “in love” with you • Mod people who believe in what you do and what you’re building • Moderating is a responsibility, not a cool kids club. Choose people who understand and respect that • Moderators represent you. Don’t mod people who can’t represent you and your community well • You trust their judgment (and feel safe giving them the tools) • They’re calm and consistent under pressure • They can communicate issues to you privately instead of creating drama in chat • They know (or are willing to learn) how to enforce rules fairly without power-tripping Also, respect and value your mods. They’re part of your team and helping you for free. Listen to them, communicate with them, and build your team with them. You’re the head, but they’re often the ones doing a lot of the unglamorous work.
