This report reads like an ideological manifesto intended to rally political support for continued escalation against Cuba. It is a justification for a maximum-pressure Cuba policy designed by @SecRubio that has resulted in a humanitarian crisis just 90 miles from our shores.
Cuba’s assault on the United States was never, at root, a quarrel over economic policy or sovereignty or even ownership of a particular territory.
It was a revolution against Western civilization itself. state.gov/cuba-the-capital-o…
Despite an intense diplomatic offensive and pressures led by Secretary Rubio and Ambassador Waltz to prevent an outcome favorable to Cuba, 75% of the UN General Assembly member states voted in favor of eliminating the unilateral coercive measures against the people of the island.
The Trump & Rubio fuel blockade was expanded to a Cuba-bound cargo blockade that equates a naval blockade. They seek a humanitarian crisis to justify a regime change operation that counters American values & interests. The siege must end now!

We agree that the Trump admin is already engaged in hostilities against Cuba. Congress must pass the Cuba War Powers Resolutions—not just before bombs fall, but while U.S. military is currently being used to enforce coercive measures against Cuba.

Congresspeople who have recently visited Cuba agree with Sen. @ChrisVanHollen and highlight the gravity of the humanitarian situation provoked by Trump+Rubio policies calling it a "silent Gaza." It's time to deescalate and choose diplomacy over war:

Trump & Rubio's blockade of Cuba has created a humanitarian crisis. They are making life miserable for the Cuban people, including children — not the regime.
We must learn from six decades of failed Cuba policy. The blockade must end.

Cubans have endured daily blackouts lasting well over 24h, crippling hospitals, water systems, transportation, food production and the entire economy. The U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights has warned that U.S. sanctions are “endangering lives”.

The Trump admin’s Cuba policy has evolved into a broader campaign of ideological persecution and military threats that resembles the Cold War. This underscores the importance of rigorous congressional oversight before any further escalation is contemplated.acere.org/acere-insights-iss…

The Trump-Rubio admin. is cutting off every remaining source of oxygen for the Cuban economy. It is directly causing a humanitarian crisis, only to later claim that the Cuban people need to be "saved" through a military intervention. These sanctions kill innocent civilians.
The Cuban Communist regime continues to exploit its people and serve as the leading sponsor of radical leftism and political violence in our hemisphere. Today, I designated nine entities and two individuals associated with the dictatorship, including four malign actors profiting from the exploitation and forced labor of the regime’s overseas medical brigades and a sanctions evasion network associated with the kleptocratic military conglomerate, GAESA.
Anyone supporting, sponsoring, or providing services to these sanctioned actors is at risk of being sanctioned themselves. Foreign banks and other companies that provide services to, or hold funds for, these entities should suspend those activities immediately.

No respected military, intelligence, or defense analyst has publicly concluded that Cuba poses an imminent military threat to the United States. The burden of proof rests squarely with the Trump administration—and especially with the @StateDept.

Last week, @repdeliaramirez, @RepDexterOR, @RepTeresaLF, and I got back from a fact-finding trip to Cuba. Cubans are suffering from a humanitarian crisis because of the decades-long American embargo and current fuel blockade.
Yet, the State Department just published a ridiculous report about the threat to America from Cuba. It may be the stupidest, most fantastical, most biased thing I’ve ever read from a governmental agency.
We will continue to do everything in our power to change American policy and end the blockade hurting the Cuban people.
We warn that the Trump administration is using false national security claims to justify an unprecedented escalation against Cuba. @potus and @SecRubio : What evidence justifies putting U.S. service members at risk in yet another military intervention?

We urge other members of Congress—especially Republicans—to travel to Cuba, witness the reality on the ground, and assess firsthand the human costs of the Trump administration’s maximum-pressure campaign.
Far from demonstrating that Cuba constitutes an "unusual and extraordinary threat" under the IEEPA, the report offers little more than broad assertions and ideological arguments, without presenting evidence sufficient to support such an extraordinary legal determination.

What I saw in Cuba was beyond cruel.
The American people do not want the Cuban people to suffer at the hands of our government. It is high time we end the blockade.
"US-Cuba talks show no progress. The conduct of USG delegations—generally respectful—has been accompanied by constant threats against Cuba, the application of coercive measures & offensive statements regarding Cuba's independence," @BrunoRguezP said.reuters.com/world/americas/c…
