People really seem to be mixing up having good prompts, tests, guardrails, and workflows to not have to read their own code versus having a terrible prompt, making ai slop, and then expecting the PR reviewer to deal with 10k of nonsense.
The Mayer article was disappointing but not surprising. It’s been a bad month for women in tech. A real win would’ve been Mayer organizing sponsorship to keep Grace Hopper open. Women don’t need a chatbot to help describe our children, we need funding, focus, and community.
"Everyone is an expert w/ AI" An expert, to me, is one who speaks on a subject knowledgeably with no warning in different contexts. I worry that we are mistaking repeating info from AI as "expertise". From the recent press secretary, its obvious when you're just reading things 🫠
I’ll be doing a tea spill and a class on technical interviewing today on the #100devs discord in an hour and a half! So exciting to do this because look at what I wrote last year on my study notebook to motivate myself in the job hunt.
I’m helping out with #100devs on Thursday and I’m so excited! I really love tech mentorship and I’m grateful to my tech community for being there for me in the job hunt. So now I want to be there for others.
Tech is really stressful lately ya'll, but I find that mediation helps keep me grounded and positive and that has rippled out in positive ways to my career as a Software Engineer.

Okay but I can’t deal when my LinkedIn post on ai goes viral and people get spicy in the comments bc my autistic, Buddhist, DBT ass wants to come in and be like “nah, guys, we can all get along and approach this with empathy!” I’m bad at this lol
Grace Hopper being cancelled is such a bummer and feels indicative of women in tech continuing to be de-prioritized. What can we do to ensure such communities and events get the proper funding and attention they need?
Listen AI is cool and all but yall crazy for deleting your IDEs. I love vscode, even to review and compare ai generated code, and yall can pry it from my cold, dead hands.
Halloween coming together finally! It’s been so hot this year I had to put it off a bit. Hoping I can still pull out a big secret addition.
Being a woman in tech with autism is a special challenge. I have to ask SO many questions to understand, which can be great for catching things, but also tends to make people feel attacked so I gotta do it in a Bob Ross + self deprecating humor manner to be disarming. So tiring
I have a dumb stance. In an IF, I hate the trend of removing curly braces. They make it easier for me to breakdown the logic in my brain. Would I make someone change it in a PR? No. Do I give it a tiny glare every time I see it? Yes. What is the dumb, smol, silly hangup you have?
I'm working on a skill that takes large PRs, slices by commits & logic seams, & then creates a stacked PR on github. The trigger word is 'pancake' bc I like whimsy in my engineering &, ironically, I feel like AI is taking that away in favor of more sterile, unified engineering
