PS Dr Chris Kiptoo welcomed the European Union Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Andreas Peschke, and Mr Andrew McDowell, Director General of EIB Global, to the National Treasury for discussions on development financing, infrastructure investment and trade.
EU and European Investment Bank support is contributing to key infrastructure projects, including the Kwa Jomvu- Mariakani Road along the Northern Corridor, valued at approximately KSh 17.5 billion, the Mwache Multipurpose Dam, the Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation Project, and the Last Mile Connectivity Programme, which is extending electricity access to households.
The EU - Kenya Economic Partnership Agreement, which entered into force in July 2024, has also strengthened trade opportunities by granting Kenyan exports duty-free, quota-free access to the EU market.
Kenya continues to pursue greater foreign direct investment, stronger investor confidence and increased private capital mobilisation to finance infrastructure and support sustainable economic growth.

KENYA-EU RELATIONS STRENGTHENED
Kenya-EU relationship is strongest in a decade, anchored on trade, investment shift, and Kenya as EU hub for Global Gateway. EU is Kenya's largest single export destination and strategic bilateral partner. The EPA grants Kenya duty-free, quota-free for all exports to 27-member EU market and since ratification two years ago, our trade has grown by 20% now at almost 4 Billion dollars. Our security and defence cooperation is equally robust, as is our engagement at multilateral level, including under the recently launched, Partnership for Multilateralism (P4M).

Navi Pillay dedicated her life to upholding justice and protecting human dignity, from her role as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to her work on accountability for the genocide in Rwanda.
She has shown the world that the quest for justice and the quest for peace are one and the same.
At a moment where international law is under attack, along with the institutions that exist to uphold it, her work should serve as an inspiration to us all.
