Rudy Giuliani’s support for the MEK over Reza Pahlavi is deeply troubling and WRONG!
The MEK is not simply another opposition group. It has a militant history, fought alongside Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq War, and remains deeply controversial among Iranians. It was even designated by the United States as a terrorist organization until 2012.
So I have to ask...what exactly does @RudyGiuliani see in the MEK that makes him dismiss @PahlaviReza ?
Replacing one authoritarian system with another organization that has its own deeply controversial history is not the freedom Iranians want. The Iranian people, not Giuliani, not the MEK, and not any foreign power, should ultimately decide what comes after the Islamic Republic.
Iran deserves a genuinely free, secular, democratic future, not another regime imposed from above.
