Caroline is a campaigner fighting for a Scotland where everyone lives with dignity.
And is backing Amnesty’s demand for a Scottish Human Rights Bill to enshrine people’s rights into law – so everyone can access their everyday rights.

No one in Scotland should be denied their right to housing, healthcare or an adequate standard of living. But too many are.
This Thursday's elections in Scotland can mark a turning point.
But only if we work together to demand a Human Rights Bill in the next Scottish Parliament.

“When I first encountered the social security system, I fell apart.”
Brian had an accident at work and could no longer work as a nurse. He had to fight to get the support he needed.
People who are disabled, ill, and unemployed are still being framed as a ‘burden’. That narrative isn’t new, but it’s still working. Blame is being shifted onto the people most in need, while those in power avoid responsibility.
We need a Scottish Human Rights Bill to enshrine people’s rights into law – so everyone can live with dignity.

No one in Scotland should be denied their right to housing, healthcare or education. And everyone should be free to live free from discrimination. But too many are denied that right.

But only if we work together to demand a Human Rights Bill in the next Scottish Parliament.

At least 20,179 children have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza - according to the latest reports from the United Nations.
Children should be playing, learning and laughing - not part of a casualty list.

The people of Sudan feel forgotten amidst the spiraling violence across the country, where parties to the conflict are causing untold death and destruction.
Nowhere is safe. With every minute that passes countless lives are ruined.
People are being killed inside their homes, or while desperately searching for food, water, and medicine. They are caught in crossfire while fleeing and shot deliberately in targeted attacks. Women and girls, some as young as 12, have been raped and subjected to other forms of sexual violence by members of the warring sides.
With every minute that passes countless lives are ruined. We need to act now and demand the United Nations Security Council to extend the existing arms embargo to the whole country and not only to Darfur region and ensure it is fully implemented. This will disrupt the flow of weapons and contribute to reduce civilian suffering.

Last Saturday, almost 500 people protesting against the ban of Palestine Action were arrested.
This is not normal. We can’t let it become normal.
Protestors have been called "unbritish" and new powers have been announced to further restrict our rights.
It seems that this government is intent on clamping down on peaceful protest and will always find another way to restrict this basic human right.
The UK’s Chief Prosecutors now have the power to decide to drop these charges. Join 30K+ people and add your name to the letter: amn.st/6018Atlxi

After two years of a livestreamed genocide and unimaginable loss, agreement on the first phase of a ceasefire deal that allows some humanitarian aid into Gaza and releases the hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners is overdue.
However, this cannot be another brief pause in the violence.
It is up to the international community, including the UK government, to make sure this is an end to Israel’s genocide and the complete lifting of the illegal blockade.

🚨 ALERT: Police Scotland is developing plans to use live facial recognition technology
Facial recognition tech:
🕵️ is mass surveillance
❌ is NOT compatible with Scotland’s human rights obligations
⚠️ disproportionately impacts racialised communities.
We need to oppose this.

Amnesty UK condemns the horrific attack on the East Sussex Mosque this weekend. We offer solidarity to Muslim communities who will be shaken by this act of violence.
This follows months of increasing hostility to racialised and migrant communities in the UK – boosted by anti-migrant rhetoric across the political spectrum and in the media.

The last boat that was part of the @globalsumudflotilla is reported to have been intercepted by Israel this morning.
The flotilla only set off because governments are failing to act while Israel’s engineered famine and genocide in Gaza rages on. Despairing but defiant citizens stepped up trying to deliver urgently needed aid to desperate Palestinian people.
To defend their illegal and cruel blockade, Israeli forces intercepted the flotilla and detained individuals. This is another example of Israel’s violation of international law, and another assault on Palestinian human rights.
Their detention is unlawful, and Israel must be held fully accountable for their safety and ensure they are protected against any form of ill-treatment pending their release.
We need to keep talking about the flotilla and the brave human rights defenders who have been detained.
