Openness is the greatest risk the ego can take. And the only way to freedom.

New Podcast: The Hidden Source of Our Restlessness. Recorded during the opening session of the recent retreat in Borden, New York, this episode explores the deeply ingrained human search for happiness, peace, love, and fulfillment. Why does happiness so often seem just out of reach? Why, even when life gives us what we long for, does something within us continue to search for more? The more deeply we recognize the boundless openness of being, the more intimately we can experience life. Nothing needs to be rejected or pushed away. The infinite openness of being does not stand in opposition to the movement of life.

Clear-seeing comes not from mind-based beliefs or knowledge, but from the absence of the overlay of beliefs on what we see.

The deepest teachings are wordless. They arrive in silence, in the spaces between things, in the stillness beneath movement. Let yourself be taught by silence.

Beyond the constant activity of the mind, there is the still, ever-present awareness that remains unmoved, witnessing all that arises without attachment or identification.

The openness of being and the movement of experience are not two separate realities. What appears and that within which it appears are in the same dimension. They are not separate. The ground of being is not underneath experience or apart from it. It is the very openness within which everything is allowed to appear exactly as it is.

If your silence depends on things being calm, it is fragile. True silence holds both thunder and stillness without preference. It is not the absence of noise — it is the absence of resistance.

Every attempt to escape discomfort only deepens your suffering. When you turn toward it instead, you discover it is not what you imagined.

New Substack Article from Amoda Maa: THE UNCHANGING LIGHT OF BEING. “The more deeply we recognize the boundless openness of being, the more intimately we can experience life. Nothing needs to be rejected or pushed away. The infinite openness of being does not stand in opposition to the movement of life.” Most of us live with our attention absorbed in the movement of experience. We are concerned with what we are thinking, what we are feeling, what has happened in the past, and what might happen next. Our attention becomes so caught up in the changing appearances of life that we overlook something utterly fundamental: the simple, undeniable fact of being. This may sound ordinary, perhaps even insignificant. The mind can easily understand the idea that being is always here, that there is an underlying sense of “I am”. But to truly recognize this, not merely as a philosophical idea or intellectual understanding, but intimately, viscerally, and as a living reality, is a radical inner transformation. It is fundamental to awakening out of the dream of being a separate self. Read the article here and subscribe for free. amodamaa.substack.com

reedom is not in controlling life, nor in escaping it. It is found in surrendering to what is—meeting each moment with openness, without resistance.

Surrender does not ask us to rise above our humanity or to deny the movement of feeling. It asks us to enter experience fully, without turning away.

Being and awareness are not separate. You are not something that has awareness—you are awareness itself. And it’s available, now, in the midst of life, not apart from it.

But to know thyself is the end of this concern with self. It is the recognition, through the very particularity of your human form, of the open, unbounded ground of being within which all drops dance. This is the leela of life, the infinite expressing itself as the finite.

There are two doorways into presence: — One is awareness, which opens into spaciousness — The other is intimacy, which moves into the core of the experience Both reveal the same truth: you are not separate from life. You are the space and the love that holds it all.

In order to know silence, you need to listen with the emptiness of beingness. This requires that you open to the deeper, ungraspable dimension within yourself and the world.

All that is left is a fragrance of the tight knot of self that once was searching to know itself, now no longer seeking to find out “who I am” but instead having fallen open into the mystery of openness itself.
