It’s beyond time to rid schools of behavior charts of any kind—digital or posted on the wall. Public displays of mistakes are not motivating. Adults couldn’t thrive in an environment where that is routine. How can we expect young people to?

By investing in assistant principals early in their careers, we make an investment in the future of NC students and teachers. We appreciate the partnership of @NCPrincipals & @belkfoundation to help make this professional development opportunity a reality. dpi.nc.gov/news/press-releas…

School Leadership is all about: ☑️ Serving Others. ☑️ Helping teachers be the best they can be. ☑️ Spreading the belief that ALL kids can succeed! ☑️ Uniting teachers and parents ☑️ Creating a welcoming environment ☑️ Saying uncomfortable things that lead others to be better! – at Maryville, TN

Principals, praise shouldn't just come from you. Ask your staff to send you an email about a colleague who has helped them or done something great & have them copy that person on the email. Even those who don’t like public attention will appreciate the sentiment. Team support!

People, perseverance and progress!
Often in education we are more focused on change than progress. The latest programs, newest gimmicks, or just adding more doesn’t mean progress. In fact it rarely does. Perseverance is important. We have to stick to what we believes works & then actually give it time to work!

Every time we walk into the school, we have the opportunity to be a bright spot in a student’s day. There’s a lot that we can’t control and there are days that we may feel inadequate… but we can always be the reason that a kid smiles.
