A Proud Moment for the Armed Police Unit!
A significant milestone for the Armed Police Unit (APU), as 18 Constables (Exe.) have been designated as Head Constables under the Special Grade.
The designation recognises their dedicated service and commitment to duty.
A Piping Ceremony was held at Police Lines on 19.09.2026 to mark the occasion. The ceremony was presided over by Smt. Niyati Mittal, Superintendent of Police (APU), in the presence of officers and police personnel.
Congratulations to all the newly designated Head Constables. May they continue to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, discipline and professionalism, and serve the Andaman & Nicobar Police with pride.

National Sports Day 2026 | A&N Police
On the occasion of National Sports Day 2026, A&N Police is proud to join the nationwide campaign by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports under the theme “Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat”, with the message “Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mein.” The campaign is being observed from 28–30 August 2026 under the pillars of Tribute, Play & Move.
In the line of series, a Special Edition of “Sundays on Cycle” has been organised by ANP on 30th August 2026 at 0600 hrs, with participation of cyclists and sports enthusiasts. The event has graced by Smti. Geeta Rani Verma, IPS, IGP, A&N Islands, along with police personnel, cyclists and sports enthusiasts. The Valedictory Ceremony of the 2-Week Personal Security Officer (PSO) Course and 1-Week Tactical Driving Course was held on 28-08-2026, marking the successful completion of specialised training by 72 police personnel in the PSO Course and 30 personnel in the Tactical Driving Course.
Addressing the participants, Shri Ravindra Yadav, IPS, Director General of Police, A&N Islands, congratulated the trainees on successfully completing the rigorous programmes. He emphasised that professionalism, discipline, vigilance, and continuous skill enhancement are the cornerstones of effective policing, and urged the personnel to apply the knowledge and practical expertise gained during the training in the discharge of their duties.
The DGP lauded the National Security Guard (NSG) Training Academy, Manesar, along with its officers and instructors, for imparting high-quality specialised training and sharing invaluable operational experience with the personnel of A&N Police. He also appreciated the dedicated efforts of all officers and units involved in organising and conducting the programmes successfully.
The training programmes reflect the commitment of A&N Police, under the leadership of Shri Ravindra Yadav, IPS, towards fostering professional excellence, enhancing operational readiness, and building a highly skilled and future-ready police force capable of meeting emerging security challenges with confidence and competence.

Today, the newly established Parakram Police Fitness Centre at Police Lines was inaugurated by Shri Ravindra Yadav, IPS, Director General of Police, A&N Islands, in the august presence of Smt. Geeta Rani Verma, IPS, Inspector General of Police, along with other senior officers.
Established under the guidance of Ms. Niyati Mittal, DANIPS, SP/Armed Police Unit, the state-of-the-art fitness centre is equipped with modern strength-training and cardiovascular equipment. The facility has been established with a special focus on promoting physical fitness, health and overall well-being among police personnel and the wards of police personnel, while also supporting stress management and enhancing operational readiness.
The initiative reflects the continued commitment of A&N Police towards fostering a culture of fitness and healthy living within the Police family . By providing Police personnel and their wards with access to modern fitness facilities, the centre aims to encourage regular physical activity, build strength and endurance, promote wellness, and inspire a healthier lifestyle among the police community.

#WarOnDrugs | Continuing its sustained crackdown against narcotics trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station apprehended one person and seized 1.285 kg of Ganja concealed in a travel bag during an operation near Veer Savarkar International Airport, Sri Vijaya Puram, on 21.08.2026.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Shri Deependra Kumar Singh, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Narcotics) and led by Inspector K. Binoj, SHO, Anti-Narcotics Police Station, along with the dedicated police team.
The accused has been booked under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation is underway to trace the source and other linkages in the narcotics supply chain.

Empowering Young Girls Through Self-Defence Training!
A three-month Self-Defence Training Programme has commenced from 20.08.2026 for girl students of Classes VI to X of Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Aberdeen, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The programme is being conducted twice a week by the instructors of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Police Training Institute (NSCBPTI). Through practical training, the students will be equipped with essential self-defence techniques, helping them build confidence and develop greater awareness about personal safety and security.
This initiative reflects the continued commitment of Andaman & Nicobar Police towards empowering young girls and promoting a culture of safety, confidence and preparedness.

Strengthening Fire Safety Preparedness!
As part of its ongoing efforts to promote fire safety awareness and emergency preparedness, the Training Centre of Andaman & Nicobar Fire & Emergency Services conducted a First Aid Fire Fighting (FAFF) training session today at Aapda Prabandhan Bhawan.
A total of 43 staff members from the Tribal Welfare Department and AAJVS participated in the programme. The session included a live demonstration and hands-on training on the proper use of fire extinguishers, helping participants understand how to respond quickly, correctly and safely during a fire emergency.
Such practical training programmes play an important role in improving preparedness and empowering people with the skills needed to act confidently during emergencies.

Operation Vishwas: Technology for Trust
Shri Ravindra Yadav, IPS, @DGPANIslands, today led “Operation Vishwas” , a technology-enabled policing initiative under which recovered mobile phones were handed over to their rightful owners.
Addressing the gathering, the DGP highlighted that the initiative goes beyond recovering lost or stolen phones-it is about restoring confidence and strengthening the bond of trust between the police and the community.
Leveraging the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR), 1,867 lost/blocked mobile phones were reported, of which 1,291 were found traceable. With 147 additional phones recovered under Operation Vishwas, the total recovery/closure figure has reached 821, achieving a recovery rate of 63.59%.
Andaman & Nicobar Islands ranks "1st in the country" in the recovery percentage of lost/stolen mobile phones.
The DGP appreciated the dedicated efforts of the CID Unit, PS Crime & Economic Offence, and all officers and personnel involved. He urged continued efforts to trace the remaining phones and appealed to citizens to promptly report lost or stolen handsets and extend cooperation during verification.
Operation Vishwas reflects A&N Police’s commitment to smarter, faster, responsive and citizen-centric policing-using technology to deliver results and strengthen public trust.
