Usually we’re busy studying proteins, but yesterday it was all about sugar! 🍬We hope you had a very spooky Halloween! 🎃
In honor of international Panda day, Dr. Pando has come down to teach Ando lab first years Yue, Chloe and Raley about molecular replacement and model refinement. 🐼
One more exciting publication to share: Twitterless Ando lab member Rob Miller and @MacCHESSCornell introduce chromatography-coupled SAXS, UNDER PRESSURE!! @CHESS_user
Chromatography-coupled SAXS is a ✨powerful ✨way to study conformational equilibria of proteins — now you can do this while using high pressure to alter the energy landscape. Check out this work from @CHESS_user and @AndoLab. dx.doi.org/10.1002/pro.4489
In collab w/Matt Spence and the @Jackson_Lab, and in the spirit of October 🎃, @audgems and @DarrenXu10 dug deep ⛏️ into evolutionary history to reveal, resurrect, and structurally characterize an ancient ancestor of classes I and II RNRs. 😱🧟
Very excited to finally share our publication on the evolution of ribonucleotide reductases (RNRs), an ancient enzyme family that is essential for all DNA-based life. Out today in eLife. 🌳🧬 doi.org/10.7554/eLife.79790
First year grads (L2R) Claudia, Elena, and Yue spent a few lovely weeks with us for their 1st biophysics rotation. They grew protein crystals 💎, learned about cryo-EM ❄️🔬, and processed data 📈. Best wishes to Claudia and Elena as they translate to their next lab, and beyond!
Farewell and safe travels to our research associate John! His next stop is a position at @argonne @advancedphoton ! Thanks for all you’ve done for the lab John!
Our very own Steve Meisburger debuts mdx2 (python modules and jupyter notebooks for diffuse scattering data reduction) at the Erice School! 🤩 github.com/ando-lab/mdx2
Today we are celebrating @MG_Patterson! Not only did he give a stellar group meeting but he is officially retired from his service in the army! Congratulations Michael G. Patterson M.S., 1st Lt. Ret.! 🇺🇸🫡
