Cornish patients mustn’t be treated as second-class citizens. But that’s what seems to be planned for patients needing specialist sarcoma cancer care.
It’s proposed that the Peninsula Soft Tissue Sarcoma Service at Treliske Hospital will close in the new year.
Cornish patients could be facing a 230+ mile round trip for treatment in Exeter, or go to Birmingham or Oxford — at a time when they’re already struggling physically, emotionally, and financially.
The Government promised to bring healthcare closer to home. This plan does the opposite.

The new Communities Secretary – Steve Reed MP – has agreed to meet. We already have thousands of desperately needed, shovel-ready social homes which could be delivered today, but we can’t because the last 5 years has seen a perfect storm in the construction sector,
We don’t want them to be converted to open market homes, which could be built and delivered tomorrow. They must be built for local need.
Well said @PaulKohlerSW19
Shameful. Right to call this out.
With fellow Cornish MPs, we will seek the backing of the new DEFRA Secretary of State, Emma Reynolds MP, to enhance protections for seals under Wildlife protection legislation. Seals face many threats from disturbance,
Israel attacked those negotiating peace in Gaza. Netanyahu’s far-right regime broke the last ceasefire in March and isn’t interested in one now.
Israel is a rogue state.
The last thing they care about is the return of Israeli hostages.
It’s time to celebrate at West Cornwall Hospital as the new Outpatients Department opens today. I’m of course in Parliament so can’t attend. But was fortunate to have an early look around.
However, the system has been set up to offer the quickest rather than nearest appointment. Even if the nearest would only cause a few days delay. YOU CAN ASK to be seen locally.
