This week we said goodbye to my amazing Amma (Icelandic for grandmother). I like this article on her life and legacy because, while my grandparents’ charitable endeavors were incredible, it also highlights her kind heart. I have so many of those afghans around the house and I’ll cherish the warmth they bring even more now 💔

I can’t get over how easy it is to own this car. Not only did it drive me here but after it pulls in, she says “I still got you” and offers car wash mode. THIS CAR TURNED FOUR YEARS OLD LAST WEEK! I just witnessed a Launch Edition Model Y get rear-ended, hard enough that it’s likely headed for a total loss. 😢
What makes it especially painful is that the Launch Edition came with lifetime FSD baked into the purchase price at a significant premium. Tesla made that FSD license non-transferable. So if the car is written off, the lifetime FSD dies with it. All that extra money paid upfront vanishes along with the vehicle.
This is exactly why the FSD subscription model usually makes more sense for most buyers. You pay monthly only while you own and drive the car. If it gets totaled or traded in, you simply cancel the subscription. No massive sunk cost disappears with the vehicle.
It’s a reminder that hardware is replaceable, but those non-transferable software licenses aren’t.

My sister an I were trying to remember the house league names from our elementary school in the 80s. We managed to remember 3 of the 4 but couldn’t get the last one.
This information does not exist online (confirmed by the “thoughts”). Grok came up with three “likely” names based on the other three and got it.

The @BCRCMP and @BCHwyPatrol press release is factually incorrect, and the false information is being shared by mainstream media @CP24 @CTVNews.
In the press release Corporal Michael McLaughlin says "some electric vehicles have self-driving mode, but those systems are not legal to use in BC."
This is not true. Tesla vehicles have Level 2 driver-assist software, which require driver attention at all times - this is still legal in B.C.
What is illegal in B.C. is Level 3 and higher autonomous systems. As of April 5, 2024, the Motor Vehicle Act prohibits the use of Level 3, 4, and 5 self-driving vehicles on public roads, or even having a vehicle equipped with this capability, unless authorized by the province.

A reentry observed at 0255 UTC over Calgary was likely Starlink-1723 (object 46333)
People all over Calgary are posting videos of something breaking up in the sky about 45 minutes ago. All the videos I’ve seen from across the city look identical (Calgary is 50+km north to south) so it must be very high up and therefore must be pretty big. @DJSnM any idea what it might be? Rogue rocket? People are saying meteor but I just can’t see that being the case. Here is a good view from a Facebook post.
