I'm done polishing.
I had a need, and Claude Code helped me build it. Then I wanted the same thing on a second project, so I extracted the API — and from that moment every feature came with the same question: local feature, or API enrichment? The second answer always felt smarter. It was also always more work.
Somewhere in there I stopped building for my need and started building for every possible case. The indie hacker rabbit hole: a tool that serves everyone and is used by no one.
It became a game. One end-of-turn in Civilization before bed. One more turn. Okay, last one. Anyone who has played knows there is no last one.
Then something real happened: demos, consulting, and the thought that this is actually sellable. So I went deep into SaaS requirements. Billing, quotas, GDPR, webhooks. One more turn.
872 commits. 30 tenants in production. 0 paying customers. The product works. The billing works. The pages are written. What was missing was never code.
Then Ship or Die showed up. I watched from the outside for a while. Then: fuck it. I'm walking the plank.
Jev / System One is interesting: typed decisions, parallel, calibrated, fast and cheap.
It actually solves a real mismatch (using a generative LLM just for smart if/else).
Question I’m sitting with:
Will Anthropic (and the others) absorb these principles into their own building blocks… or is this just another niche horse people will ride for a few months?
Reminds me of the Ralph Loop. Started as hype, became a standard technique.
Sometimes the buzz sticks. Sometimes it evaporates.
I’m watching closely and curious to test.

Just pure parallel decisions. No thinking. No text.
Asked a frontier LLM the same single question.
It took about 1 second
and gave a thoughtful, well-reasoned answer.
One model did a million trivial calculations before the other finished reflecting on one.
Sometimes the flex isn’t intelligence.
It’s just raw speed on the dumbest possible task.
That is a real time useful application
