India is about to be one of the most cracked ecom markets in the world.
Y'all need to stop sleeping on it.
BCG puts India at nearly 300M+ online shoppers right now.
That's close to the entire US population, ALL shopping online.
And it's expected to hit 440M by 2030, with ecom spend roughly doubling from $120B–$140B to $280B–$300B.
To be fair, it's not right for every brand.
Order values are usually lower, shipping works differently, and you need pricing that fits the market.
And Indians are as they are...
But for brands with the right product and margins, that's a huge pool of buyers very few US DTC brands are targeting yet.
Feeling sad for brands who run 100s of ads. They'll need to visit individual ad to turn this deranged addon off 😭😹
Meta flipped a switch on your ads today.
As of this morning, product browsing is ON by default on existing Facebook and Instagram ads.
Someone taps your ad and instead of landing on your site, they can land on a product page Meta builds inside the app — your catalog's prices, images and descriptions, plus "suggested items" that can walk your buyer straight to a cheaper competitor.
Here's exactly what to do in your account, starting today:
1. Before you touch anything, record your baseline. Link clicks, landing page views, sessions, purchases, AOV — per campaign, last 7 and 30 days.
Browsing went live today, so by tomorrow the "before" picture is gone. Without it, you'll never separate what this change did from Black Friday noise.
2. Open every live ad. Go to Advantage+ Creative → Destination settings and check whether product browsing is on. It's per ad, not account-wide — there's no bulk opt-out, so you have to look at each one.
3. Decide ad by ad. Leave it on only where your catalog page is accurate and the suggested items don't undercut you. Turn it off anywhere your own landing page does the selling — the guarantee, the proof, the offer stack. That's most hero ads for most brands.
4. Audit the catalog in Commerce Manager. Whatever price, image or description lives there is now the first thing a shopper sees. A stale price in your catalog just became your storefront.
5. Do the edits off-peak. Changing a live ad sends it back through review. Don't put your best ad in review at 10am on a selling day.
Then the second deadline, Friday Oct 30:
Meta's new Commercial Terms make YOU solely responsible for anything its AI features create or change in your ads — including features Meta turns on itself.
So before Friday, screenshot the creative each live ad is actually delivering, and kill any Advantage+ enhancement that can invent claims — discounts, guarantees, timelines, results. If Meta's AI writes it, you own it.
Rule: every platform default is a decision someone else made for your account. Audit the defaults the week they ship, not the quarter after they cost you.
Both Meta and Google have been shipping shit features lately which harms their advertisers. Their PMs need to be fired asap and replaced with those who actually understand their TG

98% of X hasn't worked in proper tech jobs (let alone your infy, tcs, tech mahindra, not even your usual jobs at startups are highly technical. Most Indian grads will not do core CS work ever) but have all kinds of opinions on highly technical jobs, hiring trends etc.
Good News: I know Meta & Google Ads than my managers
Bad News: They're my managers & I'm not their manager 🥲
After criticising TV ads for decades, Meta is following their path. Brands(currently in US) can book a 3-24 hr slot for their ads. Meta has also got first impression ads, ig for the unaware audience

There's an extension called Spendo which tells you how much did an ad spend in Meta Ads Library. Crazy extension. Best way to find winning and fatigued ads
Why are not our leftists like Lula? Talking about building things etc. All our leftists are absolutely useless.
A young Lula actually looked like a Malayali commie
I don’t understand the debate regarding this. If as a parent i have money and connections (which i don’t for both), why would i not use it on my children to give them better lives? Who else am i gonna do it for?

Apart from Amit and Manikandan, all others are MBAs or CAs. There's a lesson here somewhere.

Fascinating how the chips have fallen in the Swiggy-Zomato casino table.
The backstory behind these numbers is equally fascinating.
In the halcyon days, there was only one arbiter in the India startup ecosystem - Softbank.
Both Swiggy and Zomato campaigned vigorously to earn a mandate from Softbank - the tacit implication was that the startup blessed by Softbank would rule the market by the sheer gravitational force of capital concentration.
Softbank chose Swiggy... and backed it with hundreds of millions.
Zomato only had a few million in its bank...and no other VC would touch it because what is the point of trying to battle the king/king-maker?
This apathy from private investors was the primary reason why Zomato went public!
And the rest was history...
I suspect that no one, not even Zomato, would have imagined this would be the denouement - a market cap 5X of Swiggy's.

EMUDRA is not PSU, stop blaming them, it's IT Coolie company. NIC and C-DAC used to run CA Authority before 2014, Modi Gov got rid of them and handed to these incompetent stupid IT COOLIES. Now see for yourself what happened. This is PVT Sector Efficiency they talk of.
