BREAKING: SpaceX is in talks to acquire Boost Mobile or gain access to its wireless network, potentially accelerating Elon Musk's plans to challenge Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S. telecom market. According to new reporting from The Washington Post, SpaceX has been negotiating with Boost parent EchoStar, with Musk personally meeting chairman Charlie Ergen last month. The potential deal could give $SPCX access to an established mobile customer base and terrestrial wireless infrastructure, allowing Starlink Mobile to combine traditional cell networks with satellite coverage. EchoStar reported 7.38 million wireless subscribers at the end of Q2, primarily through Boost Mobile and Gen Mobile. The talks follow SpaceX's $8 billion spectrum acquisition, part of its broader effort to build a satellite-terrestrial mobile network capable of competing with America's largest telecom operators. No agreement has been reached, and access to existing carrier networks may require approval from AT&T and T-Mobile.

BREAKING: NASA's Artemis II commander Reid Wiseman, who led the historic crewed mission around the Moon earlier this year, has been named deputy director of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The former astronaut and retired U.S. Navy captain will help oversee JPL's robotic exploration missions, laboratory operations and relationships with the Pentagon. Wiseman will also serve as JPL's primary interface for national security programs, as the laboratory expands its work across lunar exploration, Mars missions and Earth observation. He begins his new role November 30, joining the leadership team of the Caltech-managed laboratory responsible for some of NASA's most ambitious deep-space missions.

We are hearing that Sir #PatrickStewart has died. While known as Capt. #Picard (which I talked about when I was the captain of my high school’s #StarTrek club), he graced us with many characters. One of my favorite was his version of Ebeneezer Scrooge. 1/2

I saw the pure talent that he had when he transformed Scrooge from a selfish businessman to a man who was desperate to be compassionate but didn’t quite know how at first. He could also be quite funny, which was a wonderful surprise to us fans. He will certainly be missed. 2/2

JUST IN: Astroscale is proposing a fleet of “bodyguard” satellites to protect Western spacecraft from potential orbital attacks by Russia and China. The company says it could have a defensive spacecraft ready for launch within three years, adapting technology already demonstrated for inspecting, approaching and capturing objects in orbit. The proposal follows an October incident in which a Russian satellite maneuvered near an ICEYE reconnaissance satellite used to support Ukraine. Astroscale envisions patrol spacecraft protecting clusters of allied military and communications satellites, detecting and responding to potentially threatening approaches. The company is discussing the concept with European customers, but no development contracts have been signed.

The team also made progress at LC-36B yesterday. Roughly 450 truckloads of concrete, lined up bumper-to-bumper and stretching nearly 3 miles up the coast, supported a 4,500-cubic-yard pour for the pile caps. Three more placements to go for a total of 15,000 cubic yards. This is the foundation for our New Glenn 9x4 pad.

These days are coming to an end. 🥲 With the transition to Starship underway in Florida, the sight of SpaceX's Falcon 9 boosters and fairings returning to Port Canaveral has become rare. 🚀 The Falcon 9 rocket once launched from Florida multiple times per week on Starlink missions. The rocket's booster lands on drone ships in the ocean, and on any given day a returned booster could be spotted at Port Canaveral. The signs have been building all year. As SpaceX looks to the first Starship from Kennedy Space Center, Starlink missions on Falcon 9 are now exclusively from California. Make no mistake, Falcon 9 still launches from Florida, but it's less common. Plus many booster returns are back to the Landing Zone, where the public cannot see it. Starship will return the booster and ship to the launch tower. One chapter is closing, but an exciting one is looming.

We have completed our first design review for our part in NASA's MoonFall mission! For this mission, we'll use our Elytra spacecraft to deploy JPL-built drones above the Moon's south pole. Completing the preliminary design review is a testament to the hard work, ingenuity, and collaboration across our joint teams in just a matter of months. Next step: Critical design review! fireflyspace.com/news/firefl…
