π§¬ππCelebrating the science, collaboration, and friendships behind #TheAPOLLOStudy at @ASNKidney #KidneyWeek2026 in beautiful Denver, Colorado! ποΈπ
π¬ The @NIH-supported #APOL1 Long-term Kidney Transplantation Outcomes Network (#APOLLO) brings together investigators from across the country to better understand how APOL1 genetic variants influence #KidneyTransplantoutcomes and the long-term health of #LivingKidneyDonors.π§¬
π€²π½ Wonderful to connect with @ApolloNetwork13 colleagues and friends, including #BarryFreedman, #MarvaMoxeyMims, @mannonmom, #ChiyuanHsu, @emp802, @sylviaerosasD_M_Dadhania, @DeirdreSawinski, @D_M_Dadhania , @MonaDoshiMD, @SumitMohanMD, #MatthewWeir β more!
π€π½ One of the most rewarding aspects of APOLLO has been the opportunity to work alongside such dedicated investigators over the years. These collaborations have fostered lasting friendships, shared mentorship, and a remarkable community committed to advancing kidney health.
πAPOLLO represents the power of sustained, multicenter collaboration, bringing together expertise in nephrology, transplantation, genetics, epidemiology, and community engagement to address important questions in kidney care.
ππGrateful for the scientific progress, the friendships, and the opportunity to continue this journey together toward more personalized, informed, and patient-centered #transplantation!

πβ¨ @ApolloNetwork13 Investigators at @ttsorg 2026 in Sydney! π¦πΊ
π€²π½ The #APOLLO Consortium was excited to see investigators from our Clinical Centers come together at the 31st International Congress of #TheTransplantationSociety β sharing science, exchanging ideas, and strengthening collaborations across the transplant community. π«±π½βπ«²πΌπ§¬
π€ @mannonmom (CC4| @UNMCkidney), had a strong scientific presence throughout the congress, contributing to multiple sessions spanning #KidneyTransplantation, desensitization, rejection, and emerging therapies.
π€ @KristaLentine (CC3 | @SSMHealthSTL) contributed invited presentations on older #DonorOrgan utilization and a shared framework for #LivingDonation, and co-chaired a session on #senotherapy in transplantation.
π Mariella Ortigosa-Goggins (CC11 | @univmiami), joined fellow APOLLO investigators in Sydney π¦πΊβ another opportunity to connect across centers and strengthen the relationships that support collaborative transplant research.ππ
π« International meetings like #TTS remind us that advancing science happens both at the podium and through the connections we build beyond it.

π£ Proud to share this important new video resource from the @ApolloNetwork13 (#APOL1 Long-term Kidney Transplantation Outcomes Network𧬠) Communityππ½
How can we advance research involving deceased donor organs while ensuring that donor families are informed, respected, and meaningfully engaged? π
π₯ In this conversation, donor family members, #CommunityAdvisors, researchers, and #transplantprofessionals come together to discuss best practices for next-of-kin #research authorization after consent for organ donation, and why these conversations matter.
𧬠We also introduce the NIH-funded #APOLLOStudyand discuss how understanding APOL1 genetic variants in kidney donors and recipients may help improve #KidneyTransplantationand advance health outcomes in African American communities. ππ
ππ½ Very grateful to the @AST_info (#AST) for its partnership with the APOLLO #DisseminationWorkingGroup in bringing this important community conversation forward. ππ
π€π½ Kudos to our outstanding panel and community partners: @itsglendar | Jennifer Davis | @DrRoSchmidt | @nicholejeff | @KristaLentine | @Heather Johnson | Marva Moxey-Mims | @jnkodim | Mariella Ortigosa-Goggins β the dedicated working group for developing this series @anna_smith_anna | @SuperChaperone | @sylviaerosas | @lrussell6868 | @Kashawna__ π«
π«Ά #Research is strongest when the communities it is intended to serve have a voice in how it is designed, discussed, and carried forward. π¦
