I wish you could have heard the cheer that went up in my house tonight when PICKLES made it to @keithbaldrey’s bookshelf on his segment on @GlobalBC ❤️
Welp, feeling defeated is an understatement right now. Just found out that $500 worth of pledges from a marketing company were pulled because they turned out to be fraudulent. Thank you to everyone who has been supporting the journey so far!

Help. It’s never been harder to be a MG author. The latest blow— @goodreads erasing MG from the Goodreads Choice Awards—comes after so many gutting attacks, decisions and policies that are crushing discoverability of our books. If you love MG, if you want kids to have books that reflect the world around them, we need you to shout from the rooftops about the books u love! Comment below w ur favorite new MG book! Let’s save middle grade together! #MiddleGrade #Publishing

ALT On a white background, above the Groundwood Books logo, text reads: "An Ontario school board has shadow-banned four Forest of Reading–nominated books that feature or include 2SLGBTQIA+ characters. It may not be the only one. Censoring books is tantamount to telling children that certain ideas—or even certain people—are not worthy of acknowledgement. This is a hateful message. Groundwood Books stands with authors, illustrators, fellow publishers, library associations and young readers in denouncing censorship and championing the freedom of expression and the freedom to read. If your school board participates in the Forest of Reading program, it may be worth asking: Do my children have access to all of this year’s nominated titles?"

“Books with LGBTQ themes restricted by school board” - the best thing to do to fight against book banning, is to stand up with authors and publishers and shout loudly that restricting or removing access to books is, ironically, what harms children. thestar.com/entertainment/bo…
