Tough day at the office: pruning trees around the Powell & Hyde cable car turntable with one of the best views in San Francisco. Keeping Metrosideros and surrounding trees dialed in while the cable cars keep rolling. Not a bad place to clock in.

Out at Sunol doing invasive species work and caught this coyote sizing up a group of cows… Walked in confident. Took one look. Immediately reconsidered everything. Honestly, same.

Out in Sunol doing invasive species work and suddenly it turns into a survival situation. Horses: casually approaching Me: calculating my top speed for the first time in years “Don’t hurt me. I can’t outrun you.” They did not find that reassuring.

Not a bad office. Working through a tunnel of Monterey cypress, dialing in canopy structure and cleaning things up the right way. Big trees, tight spacing, and a crew that knows exactly what they’re doing.

Your oak might be telling you something… are you listening? Josh Johns breaks down the early signs of Sudden Oak Death - before it’s too late. Quick watch, could save a tree.

Same jobsite, different coworkers. Cows on the hills, birds overhead, turtles in the water… and more than a few snakes reminding us who was here first. Conservation work in Sunol’s “Little Yosemite.” Keeps you on your toes.

Not your average jobsite. The drive in says it all - winding roads, open hills, and a few cows who clearly run the place. Out in Sunol’s “Little Yosemite” doing land stewardship work with SFPUC and conservation teams. Wildlife video coming next.

That moment when the tree is still winning the staring contest. One section down… and a whole lot more still looking down.

“Do you even lift, bro?” The grapple: …yes.

When gravity needs a little encouragement. Four arborists on the rope, one on the other side guiding the piece, and a trunk section that’s about to lose the tug-of-war. Controlled rigging… with a side of upper body workout.

Steep hillside tree work. Rig the log to another tree. Make the cut. Let gravity do the commute. Professional tree swing. Stuck the landing.

Incense cedar, fresh off the stump and straight onto the mill. No shipping, no warehouse, no nonsense. Just turning a San Francisco tree into beautiful urban wood right where it stood.

Monterey Pines in the Bay Area have a tiny but serious problem: red turpentine beetles. Our consulting arborist Josh Johns breaks down what they are, why they show up, and what to watch for if you have Monterey Pines on your property.

Blackwood Acacia showing off a little. Deep color, wild grain, and patterns that look like the tree knew exactly what it was doing. From San Francisco tree to handcrafted tables by the Arborist Now team.

Monterey Cypress removal in Monterey Heights. Big limbs. Tight drop zone. Clean rigging. Zero chaos. Carefully lowered, winched out, and turned into mulch like it was always part of the plan. Just another day making gravity behave in San Francisco.

Coit Tower got its view back. We wrapped up a Rec & Park project in North Beach, carefully trimming the surrounding Monterey Cypress to restore those iconic Bay vistas from the top. Precision cuts, big payoff. Vista restored. Job done right.

When your office has a better view than most rooftops in San Francisco. Just another day 80 feet up in a Norfolk Island pine, waving at the neighbors and keeping trees safe around power lines. High above the fog. Right at home.

POV: You climbed “just to take a quick look.” Now you’re 70 feet up holding a saw and your crew looks like action figures. Ground crew: “You good up there?” Me: “Yeah. Don’t drop me.” Just another day in San Francisco.

Sidewalk to courtyard. No stress. No drama. We transplanted 3 young Maples for Potrero Court HOA — crane lifts, fresh holes, smooth landings. Big move. Soft touch. Trees settled and ready to grow.

Thursday’s storm exposed what was already there: codominant stems with major decay at the base. It split. It leaned on the house. It crushed the car. We were there the next morning. Methodical breakdown. Controlled cuts. Full cleanup. That’s how emergency tree work gets done.
