AFP: According to a report yesterday by the Financial Times, Japan is months away from running out of supplies of the critical rare earth yttrium, and has asked the United States for help with encouraging China to ease related export controls. Does the foreign ministry have comments on this?
Mao Ning: China implements export controls on Japan in accordance with the laws and regulations. The aim is to thwart Japan’s remilitarization and attempt to possess nuclear weapons. China’s position of keeping the global industrial and supply chains of critical minerals safe and stable has not changed. All parties have the responsibility to play a constructive role to this end.

What can't drones do in the Pacific?
"Cheap standoff weapons have three primary shortfalls. First, the sheer volume of weapons required to achieve a desired effect is, paradoxically, prohibitively expensive unless they are employed in tandem with other capabilities. Second, even extended-range attack drones cannot reach targets deep inside China. And third, these weapons will not have the capability to destroy hardened or buried targets.

Don’t bury the lede. Neera threw the Obama White House under the bus here.
Mehdi Hasan INTERROGATES Neera Tanden for hosting Benjamin Netanyahu
Mehdi: I know there are CAP staff here in the audience. You know at the time CAP staff complained internally that you did a softball interview.
Neera: I think Benjamin Netanyahu is a horrible person. The reason why we hosted him at CAP is because the Obama administration asked us to. I wish we did not host him—100% (mentions Ben Rhodes).
Mehdi: When did you realize that you shouldn't have hosted him?
Neera: I mean like he's been like basically acting as a kind of war criminal... It was not my idea to host him. The Obama administration basically engineered that. But it was very painful to do
