I know this is like the WORST hack in crypto history ever, by some considerable margin but honestly I'm having more fun shit posting this into eternity today than I have on X in a long time
My boss at #Binance when I tell him I have no idea how North Korean hackers got access to my DevOps laptop
Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified.
The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far.
Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete.
As an immediate precaution, Binance has:
- temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed;
- revoked the affected address authorisation;
- engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds.
Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice.
Please rely only on official Binance channels for updates. Please feel free to contact Binance Customer Support if you have any further questions.

I can’t withdraw from #Binance to my own wallet without 2FA and a cavity search

Am I the only one who doesn't understand this

W T F !
#Binance initial findings point to a compromised DevOps laptop giving an attacker access to its withdrawal system 🫠
Honestly this is SO DUMB!
~$6.3 BILLION drained because of a compromised staff laptop
The suspected path:
→ Laptop compromised
→ Access to an internal service
→ Unauthorised withdrawal requests
Binance says it has found no evidence of leaked wallet private keys
Somehow I think the Kim Jonn Un test could have saved #Binance a few billion today
Quick question:
If the hacker is selling assets for ethereum:native then why tf are you guys dumping ethereum:native?

Just in case anyone actually needs to hear this right now
Be careful with leverage today, shorting feels obvious but you're one squeeze away from blowing up
Let the dust settle and trade the market once things are more clear
The Binance hacker has the chance to rally the trenches one more time
Not the hero we expected, but maybe the hero we deserve?
Hey Circle, hypothetically if my $USDC got frozen, is there a form for that?
