Excited to be the new author of LexisNexis':
Attorney's Handbook of Accounting, Auditing and Financial Reporting
Trusted by attorneys for half a century (and 50 more years to come)
Today I had issues with my phone system
3 years ago, I would have spent my time “getting to the bottom of it”
Today, I spent < 10 min with @prysmcorp, and it was fixed on the same day: by them finding an issue I would never find

Highly skilled advisors have the privilege of working with people they enjoy working with… Here is how you communicate with your attorney using AI in a way that makes them want to work with you.
The most underrated part of working with attorneys is seeing their success
My favorite 2026 success story is a boutique firm doing $1m in ‘23 that will do >$2m this year & partner take home grew from 45% to 60%
Crazy what can happen with consistency and sticking to a core plan
Underrated benefit of AI for “forms” (NDAs, non-competes, etc)
“Instead of making edits to your provided form, we added your terms to our standard form &:
- here is the document
- here is the evaluation of material terms/hetween your form vs ours in an easy to read table”
Q1 is over. A client with more than 30 day old WIP and a material balance after Q1 needs a hard look.
Don’t fall into the trap of trying to collect 6 months of WIP in July.
The first cut of our new website is live today: LancasterFirm.cpa
Initial reactions on a 30 second drive-by:
- What do you dislike?
- What would you change?
- What is missing?
2 “likes” but 10 clients. That’s Twitter for you.
Adding 10 more “tax only” slots for solo attorneys with <$500k revenue in 2026.
At capacity for core accounting work at <$500k revenue firms, but these will be first in line as we have additional capacity for core accounting.
1/ Uncleared transactions in your accounting software are the digital version of uncleared checks. You logged the action in your billing software, but the money hasn’t moved yet. 🧵
7/Don’t avoid trust accounting. Clients will fail to pay bills. It’s inevitable.
Don’t put yourself in a position where you have non-collectible AR or are sucked into every engagement decision simply because you’re avoiding trust accounting.
8/If you’re looking for a new legal software solution, software integration assistance, or to make the last accounting & tax decision you’ll ever make, check out my blog on core legal software stacks and reach out.

Recently, a deposit > $10,000 should have had processing fees deposited into my operating account and the remainder placed in trust
Due to error by my payment processor, the full amount was placed in my operating account
Blind reliance on software is rarely a good idea
I added a monthly accounting & tax offering for solo attorneys who have < $500k annual revenue
Additional Benefits:
- Core PM & QBO integration setup
- Subscription to Monarch Money ($180 value)
Excluded:
- Trust Account Administration
- Treasury Management
10 open slots
1/3 If you're starting a new law firm, looking to move away from an outdated platform, or just evaluating your core technology stack, here are the top 5 stacks that I would suggest to 99.9999% of law firms:
2/3 If your platform is no longer being supported in the near future (looking at you, Worldox) and you want to keep the same billing software: Consider NetDocuments (NetDocs), the parent company of Worldox.
