Please donate to Cancer Research Charities instead, this would mean more to me. I'm not here to make money. <3
Watching Internet point people argue with pilots and experts over the last 24 hours has been fascinating, and an impressive amount of patience from pilots on this platform.
There was no B-2 deployed to Fairford earlier this year @BBCNews….
Standard operating procedure for a B1 is to use afterburner for take-off. The effort of this post built on “seen” is pointless as even with a full tank of fuel and no munition a B1 would still require afterburners for a take-off.
Go touch grass.
Replying to @AuroraIntel
Post, based on 'seen'.
Aircrafts do not take off with afterburners because they are designed to, they use them for a certain purpose.
TOLD calculations vary from runway, weather, load, purpose.
So NO, B1 does not always take off with afterburners
Don’t think I’ve ever seen a B1 take off without afterburners, so for those who successfully created social media hysteria last night with a complete lack of basic research. Log off, go outside and go touch some grass.
Considering the pace of development and the “goal” of being “first” when it comes to models, state or non-state, this was inevitable and ultimately was needed earlier.
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.

Update: boarded 15 minutes early just to leave us sitting on the plane for 2 hours at the gate. Thanks @WestJet!
Hey @WestJet, thanks for changing our same day flight, marking us as "missed connection" (even though it wasn't a missed connection) and refusing to compensate us for the hotel we now need to pay for. Now we're out of several hundred dollars and a vacation day.
Will be flying Air Canada next time!

We’re sharing an open data release for the flood that swept through the Bhote Koshi–Trishuli river corridor across the China-Nepal border today. This resource is intended to help support disaster response experts, and will be updated as we capture more imagery of impacted regions. Our thoughts are with the communities affected and the first responders working to respond to this disaster.

Swap out the product manager for someone else as it was a stupid mistake because they clearly don’t understand the market landscape and keep Google Earth Desktop instead.
Re: our statement on Image Generation in Google Earth:
“We know that people uniquely trust Google Earth for a reliable view of the world. We’ve seen geospatial professionals using this feature for a range of useful purposes, however we’ve also seen people sharing screenshots of generated imagery that appear to violate our policies. So we’re rolling back this feature in Google Earth while we work on implementing stronger guardrails. It's important to note that generated images didn’t appear in the main Google Earth experience for others to see and were watermarked as AI generated.”
This is a f…ing stupid idea.
In a world of fake news (state coordinated or not) this will cause an unbelievable amount of issues.
Googles response is about using SynthID, it’s too late at that point, once it’s copy, pasted, edited and all over social media the damage is done.
Tonight I typed just one sentence into Google Earth and put refugees near the Mexican border. Then I planted a nuclear plant in Iran. What on earth is Google doing? Check my latest post here: digitaldigging.org/p/how-to-…
