Election Commission has FINALLY published the list of 33 lakh voters who are being served notices under the Delhi SIR! This should have happened on 31st August itself, when the draft SIR list was released. We had been highlighting this glaring omission and had finally filed a petition to the Supreme Court. The matter was mentioned before the CJI’s bench on Thursday and the Court agreed to hear it on 22nd Sept. Check the list on the CEO Delhi website to see if a notice has been issued to you. However the fight for transparency continues - ECI has still NOT disclosed the criteria for flagging voters under the category of “logical discrepancies”. This is critical to prevent arbitrariness. Out of 1.45 crore voters in Delhi, 47 lakh were removed during the SIR enumeration phase. Of the 97 lakh who made it to the draft list, now 33 lakh people have been issued notices for being unmapped or for logical discrepancy.
