Convened a high-level strategic engagement with the World Bank delegation, led by Ronald Mutasa, to review two key projects: the Building Resilient and Responsive Health Systems (BREHS) Project and the Kenya Health Emergency Preparedness, Response and Resilience (KHEPRR) Project. This engagement marks an important milestone in advancing Kenya’s flagship Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda. Against the backdrop of growing regional public health threats, our discussions focused on resolving implementation bottlenecks, optimising resources and prioritising interventions for the maximum impact. In my remarks, I highlighted the importance of moving from reform architecture to measurable results, including building on over 33 million Kenyans already onboarded onto the Social Health Authority (SHA) To accelerate implementation, I sought the World Bank’s alignment with our national health priorities and Kenya’s “One Plan, One Budget, One Monitoring and Evaluation Framework,” particularly as we work to deliver faster results in health financing, digital health I was joined in the meeting by Principal Secretaries Dr. Ouma Oluga(Medical Services),Ms. Mary Muthoni (Public Health and Professional Standards),Director General for Health Dr Patrick Amoth, the Social Health Authority (SHA) C.E.O Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, implementing partners, national treasury and county government

This would be a significant opportunity to market Brand Kenya internationally. A friendly match between Bayern Munich and Ajax would be a befitting curtain-raiser for the official opening of the Raila Odinga International Stadium (Talanta Stadium), showcasing Kenya’s capacity and readiness to host world-class sporting events ahead of AFCON 2027, when the stadium is expected to serve as one of the tournament’s venues.

I came across these maps titled “United States of Kush” or expanded “Oromiyaa” that absorb Djibouti, parts of Somalia, Kenyan border areas and coastal access and treat neighbouring territories and populations as available for absorption, which violates territorial integrity and minority rights. Oromummaa as language and Gadaa is one thing. As a political ideology legitimising maximalist claims against other groups inside and outside Ethiopia, it drives conflict. @AbiyAhmedAli’s framing of Red Sea access as an existential or historical right compounds it. Ethiopia lost sovereign ports with Eritrea’s independence; demanding Assab or pursuing unilateral deals like the Somaliland MoU rejected by Somalia is irredentist rhetoric, not ordinary diplomacy. Linking events such as Irreecha to future Red Sea celebrations makes the ethnic strand explicit. Eritrea, Somalia and Djibouti have reason to treat it as a threat. Cultural self-assertion within existing borders is legitimate. Maps that erase other peoples’ lands, sea-access rhetoric as destiny, and regional forces settling disputes are not. They heighten risk across the Horn and reject the principle that neighbouring peoples also possess rights to the lands they inhabit.

At 16 years and 300 days, Max Dowman has become the youngest player ever sent off in the Carabao Cup. No younger red card is documented in the competition’s history, giving the Arsenal teenager another entry in the record books. Dowman already holds three Guinness World Records titles: 1. Youngest player to win the Premier League — aged 16 years and 144 days, during Arsenal’s 2025/26 title-winning season. 2. Youngest goalscorer in the Premier League — aged 16 years and 73 days, when he scored against Everton on 14 March 2026. 3. Youngest player in the UEFA Champions League — aged 15 years and 308 days, when he came on as a substitute for Arsenal against Slavia Prague on 4 November 2025. Guinness World Records officially recognised all three achievements and presented him with certificates in October 2026. He also features as the opening profile in the Guinness World Records Football Edition 2027, under the “Class of ’27”. All three records came before his 17th birthday. Now he has added a red-card record to his extraordinary résumé.

Arsenal have crashed out of the EFL Cup at the hands of Fleetwood, the lowest-ranked club in the competition. It dents our pride, no doubt, but at least it frees up the fixture list and allows us to focus on the more serious business: conquering Europe and defending our Premier League crown. #COYG!

27 October: Four years since Elon Musk bought Twitter. Four years ago today, Elon declared, “The bird is freed.” He changed the name, killed the bird and replaced it with a letter. Four years later, we still call it Twitter.

Kamukunji MP Yussuf Hassan @MPyusufhassan calls out Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnson and demands the disbandment of the Nairobi City County Urban Planning Department, which he describes as rotten and corrupt. I concur. Corruption kills. Corrupt building approvals and blatant disregard for safety regulations are costing lives as buildings collapse. Nairobi cannot allow corruption and incompetence in urban planning to become a death sentence for its residents. Those responsible must be held accountable.

This evening I visited the site of the collapsed building on 9th Street in Eastleigh. I was briefed on the rescue operations, thanked the rescuers and first responders for their tireless work, and consoled families whose loved ones are still missing. We stand with them, and we will not give up until everyone is accounted for. There is some encouraging news. This afternoon a Chinese search-and-rescue team, Blue Sky Rescue (USAR), joined the effort with specialised equipment. They have already detected two people alive in the basement of the building.

Thank you @grok for your objective pick. Ballon D'Or apparently just looks at the World Cup. @Arsenal should buy Unai Simon from Bilbao just to bench him for David Raya. @daviidraya1
Replying to @AwDoll
David Raya. His 2025/26 Premier League record of 19 clean sheets and just 26 goals conceded in 37 games, plus strong Champions League numbers, edges Unai Simón's higher concession rates at Athletic. Raya's consistency behind an elite defence and superior distribution suit a side chasing domestic titles and European glory.

Hey @grok, if you were managing a club seriously competing for European honours, like Champions League while challenging for domestic titles, which goalkeeper would you choose between David Raya and Unai Simón? And why?. Consider goals conceded and clean sheets

I see what the Ballon d’Or organisers are doing with the categories: Male Young Player of the Year, Female Young Player of the Year, Best Coach, Best Goalkeeper, Best Female Team have all gone to the Spanish. It looks like they are justifying the awarding of the big prize to a non-Spaniard (Harry Kane/Kylian Mbappe)

Moyale: Facts, Not Fabrications The violence in Moyale has cost lives which is totally unnecessary and unwarranted. Peace starts with truth. The Oromo invaded Somalis in Moyale and then want to play victim. The Borana are Oromo. The Garre are Somali. Sharing a border does not mean sharing an identity. Calling this decades of provocative violence "cousin rivalry" erases the suffering of real families. A flag raised in a Somali neighborhood is a pretext, not a cause. As we say: "Weyl ayaa ku tallaabsatay ilmo raadinayay sabab uu ku ooyo." Territory cannot be settled by force. The Somali Region, its people and its agreed boundaries must be respected. Thank you @aliiroba #Moyale #Ethiopia #Peace #SomaliRegion
What an extraordinary display of intellectual gymnastics! One must almost admire the audacity of attempting to disguise aggression as innocence and territorial expansionism as historical entitlement. Unfortunately, no amount of creative storytelling can manufacture facts, rewrite history, or transform an aggressor into a victim. The allegations of paramilitary advances from Oromia into somali territory deserve serious scrutiny, not this embarrassingly selective presentation of events. The reported testimonies of victims and evidence circulating on social media must be independently investigated. Propaganda is not evidence, and repetition does not magically turn fiction into truth. There is a Somali proverb worth reminding the architects of such narratives: “Nimaan sinnaan kuu ogoleyn, adna sarreyntiisa ha ogolaan.” He who refuses to coexist with you as an equal must never expect you to accept his supremacy. Perhaps the authorities in Oromia should spend less time entertaining fantasies of territorial dominance and more time studying the history, dignity, resilience and determination of the Somali people. Greater Moyale is a shared town, historically home to communities from both regions. This is neither a temporary arrangement nor a geographical inconvenience that can be corrected through military adventurism. No deployment of paramilitary forces, however ambitious its sponsors, can erase that reality. The Somali people have never required anyone’s permission to defend their homes, dignity or legitimate territorial rights. Those who mistake their preference for peaceful coexistence as weakness are making a spectacular miscalculation. And here lies the greatest absurdity, imagining that temporary military advantage can somehow confer permanent territorial ownership in the twenty-first century. What an astonishingly primitive theory of governance! Not one inch of territory should be acquired through intimidation, coercion or aggression. Regional boundaries must be respected. Those allegedly orchestrating these provocations from comfortable offices should understand one elementary truth: initiating confrontation is considerably easier than controlling its consequences. The communities who will pay the price deserve better than reckless political ambitions dressed up as patriotism. The planners may believe their intentions are cleverly concealed. Yet the allegations, accounts of victims and emerging evidence demand answers. Let this be absolutely clear: Somali people’s determination to defend legitimate rights must never be underestimated. Equally, no community should be condemned to endless conflict because of the ambitions of political actors. Oromia’s leadership faces a straightforward choice: pursue peaceful coexistence, mutual recognition and respect for established boundaries, or continue down a dangerous path that risks devastating both communities. And to the author of this spectacularly misleading tweet: congratulations on an impressive attempt to insult the public’s intelligence. Unfortunately, history is not rewritten by enthusiastic propagandists, territorial rights are not established through social-media fiction, and the truth does not become false simply because it is inconvenient. Moyale belongs to its people, not to expansionist ambitions. Coexistence is not a concession. Equality is not negotiable. Aggression must stop.

I have a gut feeling that the Ballon d’Or will go to Harry Kane, making him only the fifth English player to win the award and the first since Michael Owen in 2001. It would be a home triumph of sorts for Kane, too, with the ceremony taking place at the London Palladium in London, UK.

Same scoreline. Bournemouth shaved Manchester United with the exact same razor they used on AC Milan: 3-0 It is a watershed. The decline is real, and the once-loud, pompous Man United fanbase is finally learning what silence sounds like. Cherries @afcbournemouth are cooking. Old Trafford is cold.. and quiet as a graveyard..

As a former majority leader Emeritus , I have gone through the Election Amendement Bill (Senate Bill) 2024 and state the correct position minus the propaganda of those who have not taken time to read . The Elections (Amendment) Bill,2024 is a Senate Bill that was introduced and passed in the Senate and subsequently introduced in the National Assembly last year in February. The Bill was one of the Bills emanating from the NADCO process co-chaired by the Hon.Kalonzo Musyoka and Hon.Kimani Ichung'wah. When the Bill was still undergoing consideration in the National Assembly, Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka, Rigathi Gachagua, Fred Matiang'i, Justin Muturi, Mithika Linturi and Eugene Wamalwa filed a Petition in the High Court challenging section 39 of the Elections Act which provides for among other things the livestreaming of election results. Sen.Okiya Omtatah also filed a similar Petition. The High Court in its judgment delivered on 22nd September,2026 considered the Petitions and upheld the constitutionality of section 39 of the Elections Act. It is noteworthy that the Court further held that "the National Assembly is to take note of the manner section 39 of the Act was construed in finalizing the Bill". Based on this, yesterday, the National Assembly in considering the Bill, deleted clause 22 of the Bill which had a proposed amendment to section 39. The effect of this amendment is to retain section 39 as it is in the Act which is that it obligates the livestreaming of election results. The National Assembly DID NOT pass any amendment to remove the livestreaming of elections results and the reports online are therefore FALSE and MISLEADING. It also noteworthy that the attempts at amending the section by the Member for Suba South, Hon.Caroli Omondo were also rejected by the National Assembly so as to uphold the court judgment on the validity of section 39. In short, the livestreaming of election results is still mandatory as required by section 39 of the Elections Act and the Act was NOT amended by the National Assembly to remove this requirement. Having been passed by the National Assembly, the Bill will now be transmitted back to the Senate for consideration.

The Eastleigh building collapse won’t be the last unless Nairobi confronts the rot behind these recurring tragedies. Nairobi is becoming synonymous with collapsing storey buildings, yet it is not in a seismically active region. The causes are no secret: poor workmanship, substandard materials, corrupt approvals and developers bribing their way past zoning laws to add extra floors. Ultimately, it boils down to corruption and greed, with human lives paying the price. How many more lives must be put at risk before Nairobi confronts this deadly cycle of negligence and corruption?
