It's all about confidence. Even if a game is actually unfinished or missing features/content, if you show your audience you believe in it delivering the ideal experience, players will warm up to the idea and invest their time/money Thanks for coming to my TED talk

Honestly imo not saying the game has gone gold is just worse marketing. It shows that they aren't willing to face the public with the decisions they made I also think not announcing a 60 FPS patch coming later would have helped because then it won't seem like it's unfinished

Most importantly, it's missing a big reason to play the game apart from standard updates. I was hoping we would get a 64 player mode like in Battlefield or something. An experience that hadn't been done before in Halo. Instead we got 24 player BTB, which is fun, but underwhelming
