There are several Ohio State bars across the Phoenix metro area. I just stopped by Upper Crust Pizza in North Phoenix - they go all out for Buckeye game days. Apparently, “shutting down” your recruitment means nothing these days. Ohio State commit Quinton Cypher recently took a visit to Miami last weekend. Allegedly, he didn’t tell anyone at the Woody beforehand - which is fine, I guess. I just don’t get why these kids shut down their recruitments only to turn around and take backdoor visits right after. This is why I don’t follow recruiting anymore.

The coaches told him not to throw the game away, and he didn’t. He dirted a couple balls and scrambled for yards when it was there. Tiny sample size, tough situation. Illinois started a true freshman at quarterback today and beat Oregon. Hopefully that helps ease some of the doubt around Ohio State starting a true freshman next week against USC. They didn’t ask him to do too much - they established the run game, their defense played solid, and they got the win.
