Moshfeka Jahan, cousin of former Bangladesh Air Force Flight Lieutenant K M Tahsif Souri, has said that her brother was murdered after facing prolonged psychological harassment and surveillance over sharing footage of Sheikh Hasina’s escape from Bangladesh.
In an emotional Facebook post, she said that Tahsif was forced into retirement, regularly followed by intelligence agents and eventually killed despite having merely shared footage recorded by a colleague.

A joint study by Bangladesh Mahila Parishad and Digitally Right Limited found that 45.5% of 521 women and girls surveyed across five Bangladeshi cities experienced technology-facilitated gender-based violence. Among active internet users surveyed, the figure rose to 63.7%. Facebook and Messenger were identified as major platforms for abuse, while only 4.6% of survivors reported incidents to police. The study highlighted gaps in digital safety awareness, law enforcement responses and platform accountability, calling for stronger legal protections and survivor support
