This creates a clear conflict: the person holding the highest elected office effectively chooses the unelected official who holds reserve powers that could theoretically check that same office. • There is no federal recall process for MPs (unlike some provinces). Removal options are largely limited to the next election, party discipline, or rare expulsion. These features of Canada’s Westminster system favour stability and convention over ongoing voter accountability.
