Clarendon House office redevelopment would lead to sense of enclosure +loss of outlook for Kaleidsocope flats, existing + proposed views from residents' windows shown. @Cambslive @bbccambs @CambridgeIndy @greenarteries @ACarpenDigital

Proposed redevelopment of Clarendon House is going to Planning Cttee on Wed 24 July. We're asking the Committee to reject due to overdevelopment (2.4x larger),excessive scale + massing, loss of daylight + sunlight, loss of trees, privacy, noise +more @greenarteries @cambridgeindy
Add your objection to plans to more than double the height and floorspace of Clarendon House by Tuesday 7th May. @greenarteries
Please object to plans to increase the size and scale of Clarendon House, which would cause overshadowing, overlooking & loss of light to neighbours in Clarendon Rd and Kaleidoscope flats in Cambridge. Object here: applications.greatercambridg… Keyword 'Clarendon' or ref: 24/00889/FUL

This 5 storey building, 21.8 m tall, would tower over houses opposite in Clarendon Rd #Cambridge & would affect hundreds in neighbouring Kaleidocope flats, with overlooking, loss of light & privacy. Object now: applications.greatercambridg… ref: 24/00889/FUL @CambridgeIndy @BBCCambs

If you live in #Cambridge, pls look at & object to plans for 5 storey office with 3 storey 'entrance' block significantly taller than houses opposite. Clarendon House would be 21.8m, with chimney of 23m. Highest roof terrace at 18.47m. applications.greatercambridg… Ref 24/00889/FUL

The developer's Environmental Impact Assessment screening report (Oct 2020) estimates 450-520 HGV movements solely to construct an underground car park. (p 14). Excavating the basement containing asbestos needs specialist treatment to protect human and environmental health.
We raised the issue of asbestos in Lockton House on 21 February 2021, and said that if demolition is permitted a written condition should be imposed that the work be carried out by a specialist asbestos removal company, to avoid significant danger to health from released fibres.
There is a strong case for an Enivronmental Impact Assessment to be carried out in relation to this 105,325 sq. ft. office development on Clarendon Road and Brooklands Avenue.

We did an FOI request for 17 meetings & workshops held between Cambridge City Council and the developer from 15 January 2020 to 3 November 2020. Only 1 set of minutes was provided, from 5 August 2020.
The three proposed replacement trees for the south west corner, T9 Liquidambar styraciflua, T10 Pinus nigra (black pine) and T11 Liriodendron tulipifera (tulip tree), will not adequately mitigate the loss of canopy cover, as two of them lose their leaves in winter (T9 and T11).
The hedge of copper beech 80cm high in troughs along the southern elevation wld not be appropriate replacement planting; a)these lose their leaves in winter & b)they are boundary treatment rather than substantial trees, showing how close Block B would be to the southern boundary.
Would this preserve or enhance the Brooklands Avenue Conservation Area? These 2 massive office blocks would have a negative effect on the Grade II listed Royal Albert Homes on Brooklands Ave & other 2 storey houses in Clarendon Rd, esp. in terms of residential amenity. #Cambridge
