Our placement students have been busy supporting trials across the season. As Assistant Technical Agronomists, they've spent time in the field conducting seed counts at newly drilled sites, monitoring potato harvests and carrying out post-summer combine checks.
Patience is key this autumn, says BASF Technical Agronomist David Hawcroft, as uneven crop emergence continues to challenge growers in East Yorkshire. These photos show how one grower is responding, with Luximo's application flexibility allowing timing to reflect crop conditions.
Choosing a robust herbicide programme offers benefits beyond just this year's crop.
As well as protecting this season's yields, Luximo reduces seed return, benefiting your rotation for years to come.

Out and about in East Anglia this week📷
In Norfolk, OSR is looking strong, while wheat is emerging steadily in good conditions. Meanwhile in Suffolk, sugar beet crops are showing a mix of rust, cercospora and mildew, reminding us of the continued importance of monitoring disease pressure.
Lincolnshire grower, Pat Thornton, strives for the best possible grassweed control on his farm and invests where he knows he'll get return.

Timing is crucial when it comes to maximising your herbicide impact.
Getting Luximo on at pre-emergence of the target weed gives you the strongest level of control.
Join Field Sales Manager Matt Keane on a sunny morning field walk in mid Norfolk🌾
It's just over a week since he last visited this field, he’s now back to check how the wheat is progressing.
Overall, the crop is coming through well and seedbed conditions are pretty good. There’s a little more moisture around and he’s seeing blackgrass shoots emerging near the hedgerows.
A promising start as we move into autumn 🍂
Autumn is well and truly taking hold. Italian ryegrass has now been established following maize harvest to help capture nutrients over winter, while hedgerows are putting on a spectacular display of colour. A reminder of how diverse the countryside can be at this time of year🌾
🥔 Have you discovered Perfecting Potatoes Together?
In Episode 2, we visit potato growers Mat and Lloyd Smith in the Cambridgeshire Fens to talk water management, from efficient irrigation and crop quality to managing late blight risk.

How are crops establishing in the dry conditions? 🌱
Technical Agronomist Ollie Cook is out in Oxfordshire looking at OSR establishment, flea beetle damage and the impact of a very dry seedbed.
And despite the lack of rain, black-grass is already well established and coming through the ground.

Salad Spotlight 🥗
After a much-needed spell of rain, salad crops across Suffolk are making the most of the moisture. Spinach and chard are responding well, with strong fresh growth helping crops maintain momentum as we move further into the season. 🌱
