Talking #LongerBetterLives and unacceptable cancer waits with First Minister @little_pengelly at @duponline conference. We've valued the DUP and cross party support on this issue. Less than a third of people in NI begin cancer treatment within 62 days of GP referral.
Today the Tobacco and Vapes Act has become law and it’s a huge step towards a #SmokefreeUK. We celebrate alongside our campaigners and partners, who have championed this legislation since it was announced over two years ago. It's a major milestone in our mission to beat cancer.
The Tobacco and Vapes Act has become law today, helping to create Northern Ireland’s first ever smokefree generation. This law is a significant step forward towards protecting future generations from the harms of smoking.

It's encouraging to hear @mikenesbittni talk about the importance of tackling #obesity inequalities in NI at a conference on addressing obesity using whole systems. Obesity is the second biggest cause of cancer and the inequalities gap in NI is widening. #NI_WSALearningEvent

Around 20,000 people in Northern Ireland won’t start treatment on time over the next five years unless emergency action is taken to protect patients. The Northern Ireland Executive must now develop an emergency stabilisation plan, prioritising patients at the highest risk. bit.ly/3NDvfCr
Our No Time To Wait report sets out why we need to see immediate action to protect patient safety by reducing the backlog of people still waiting for diagnosis and treatment. Link to the report in the comment below 👇

Great to meet new Health Committee Chair @mcguigan_philip today, less than a week into his new role. Great to discuss #cancer priorities. Thanks to Philip for speaking so passionately in favour of the Tobacco & Vapes LCM - a momentous start to the job!
Northern Ireland has today taken a massive step towards a #SmokefreeUK.
We’re thrilled that MLAs have voted in favour of the Tobacco and Vapes Bill at its LCM. This bill could help prevent future generations from ever starting to smoke, the biggest cause of cancer in N.Ireland .
