To mark 10 years of Colombia's peace agreement, JFC was joined in the British parliament last night by former president @JuanManSantos, whose govt signed the deal with the FARC guerrillas in 2016.
The packed out event showed that peace in Colombia remains an urgent issue.
Santos praised international contributions to peacebuilding and criticised the current govt over its brazen attempts to block core elements of the agreement.
Diego Martinez @MCastAbogados highlighted the immense commitment of former guerrillas to peace, despite high levels of violence they continue to face.
JFC vice-chair @MarielaInt paid tribute to the British and Irish politicians and trade unionists who supported peace talks.
Thanks to chair @FabianLeedsNE, event co-organisers @ABColombia, @HumanRightsAPPG, @BGIPU, APPG Latin America, everyone who came and the other speakers.
With peace again under threat in Colombia, the international community must keep demanding full implementation and support communities, activists and former guerrillas working on the ground to build a conflict-free society 🇨🇴 🕊️
