Journalism in Sudan is now a crime punishable by death. Geisan: Displaced in the forests Thousands of civilians have fled the areas of Geissan, Blue Nile State, to escape the fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces. They now find themselves stranded in the heart of the forests, lacking even the most basic necessities for survival. In the areas of Shira, Dandan, and Abu Qami, the humanitarian needs of the displaced are mounting. There is a severe shortage of food, shelter, and medicine, while diseases are spreading. With no healthcare facilities available and medical treatment out of reach, some residents have resorted to using tree leaves and traditional, improvised remedies as the sole remedy. According to reports from the region, Shira alone is hosting 8,324 people, while Dandan is sheltering 1,426, and Abu Qami 2,430. Behind these figures lie thousands of stories of families forced to flee by the war.
