The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. Simply incredible reporting by Matthew Cole, drawn from his new book on Kushner. vanityfair.com/story/jared-kโ€ฆ

Latest: โ€‹Zelenskyy tells reporters over WhatsApp that restrictions on Ukraine's Starlink systems remain. Interceptor drones can't function, logistics and operations hobbled. The maximum speed is 161 kph; "exceeding this limit causes the Starlink connection to cut out completely, resulting in the loss of the drone." He says Ukraine has done tests to determine whether SpaceX is truly facing technical issues, as has been told Kyiv by the US side, or if this is a "deliberate operation... to restrict us, cut us off, and prevent us from defending ourselves and protecting our people, both at the front and among the civilian population." He says Ukraine "sent a couple of vehicles equipped with Starlink terminals into European Union territory." "They moved at speeds exceeding 180kph, and the Starlink systems worked perfectly. We have the relevant logs and evidence to prove this." He adds: "The conclusion is clear: the restrictions are in effect within Ukraine but do not apply within the European Union. In other words, this is a planned operation."

EXCLUSIVE: Elon Musk came to Donald Trump with the plan to throttle Ukraineโ€™s use of SpaceXโ€™s Starshield satellite internet network, sources have told the Telegraph. The tech billionaire made the proposal during the US Presidentโ€™s row with Volodymyr Zelensky over strikes on Russian oil refineries. โ€˜The reality is that they were both in it,โ€™ a senior source said of Muskโ€™s and Trumpโ€™s involvement. But after a night of carnage in Kyiv caused by the slowdown, Musk was alarmed about the possibility of adverse consumer reaction in Europe. The SpaceX boss then proceeded to tweet, blaming the US administration, and ultimately, President Trump for authorising the slowdown. โ€˜He tweeted out that he was innocent and that it was the US administration that did it,โ€™ the source said.

When I stilled worked on biosecurity, I first learned about Debug, a Google project to reduce mosquito populations. Results from their Singapore pilot are now out. They crushed mosquito populations, reducing dengue infections by 70% in the process:
There is no good reason for mosquitoes to exist in wealthy countries today. New technologies can get rid of the mosquito species that cause diseases like dengue, yellow fever, and malaria; and others can prevent them from carrying those diseases. worksinprogress.co/issue/mosโ€ฆ So why do mosquitoes still exist? In a new article for Works in Progress, Maya Rosen explains how state incapacity and risk aversion led to over a decade of delays and billions of unnecessary bites in the United States. Oxitec, for example, engineered an Aedes aegypti mosquito in such a way that its female offspring would die before adulthood. Through sustained releases, they showed they could reduce local mosquito populations by 80% or more, in field trials. They sought approval from the USDA in 2010, which then passed it to the FDA, which passed it to the EPA. In 2020, the EPA allowed them to conduct limited field trials in the Florida Keys. Two years ago, their experimental permit expired, and they still need another review before it can be used routinely. Their proposed field trial in California was withdrawn after public opposition. Another company, MosquitoMate, developed a technique involving Wolbachia, which also suppresses local mosquitoes. They then spent over fifteen years working through the system before finally receiving commercial registration nationwide in 2024. It seems that, sometimes, the barrier to getting rid of diseases isnโ€™t technology at all. Itโ€™s policy and political will. New products shouldnโ€™t get stuck in regulatory review for so long, especially if the delays are about basic questions like which agency has oversight over the product, rather than testing for safety. Though some of those uncertainties were being addressed, the broader changes havenโ€™t materialized. After Bidenโ€™s 2022 executive order, the agencies planned to update how their coordinated framework was implemented. But Trump rescinded the order last year. Meanwhile, the EPA unit that reviews new mosquito control products is still a small office backlogged in reviewing a wide range of products. Mosquitoes are a policy choice. We can get rid of them. Will we choose to? worksinprogress.co/issue/mosโ€ฆ

completely end all community input for housing sure we'll get some eyesores and unneeded/mismatched development but that's preferable to the alternative (never building anything ever again)

To give a rundown of the zombie facts haunting the data center debate: -They pollute water: Every instance we've seen so far was caused by something relating to construction, mostly the same as other large buildings. -They raise electricity prices as much as 267%: this was a stat about wholesale prices at specific nodes very close to data centers, not household prices in the area, which are often very different. There's no reliable pattern right now between DCs getting built and electric bills going up, but that could change in the future. -Their normal operation harms people's access to water: No clear case I can find, outside a weird case in Georgia where a DC accelerated the need for a larger water treatment plant which got passed onto consumers as higher bills. -They take all the land: even in Loudoun County with the most data center capacity anywhere DCs take up about 3% of the land. By 2030 all US data center buildings would cover about the surface area of Disney World -They create harmful infrasounds: this was based on a single video that lied about almost every study it flashed on the screen. We don't have any reason to think data center infrasound is harmful unless it's so loud you can physically feel it. -They don't pay taxes: this is the result of a game of telephone that started because data centers don't pay a specific type of tax (M&E sales) in most states, which got reported on a lot as "residents missing out on this much in tax revenue" which people mistook to mean DCs basically pay no taxes or get funded to get built. In reality that's just one of several taxes places can apply and in basically everywhere they're built DCs pay a lot of taxes. Loudoun collects $1.3 billion per year from them and doesn't charge M&E sales tax. -They reliably make annoying sound: there are clear cases where they've created awful noise pollution, but these mostly seem like outliers, though there are enough to be concerned. -They create harmful heat islands: The only study that's measured this finds that data centers can heat the air very close to them by a few degrees, and this drops to zero just a little farther out. A separate study that found that they heat the land for miles around seemed to have accidentally measured the results of normal land use change like new paved roads, and didn't control for that. It could be that the very largest ones create a harmful effect in areas where heat doesn't dissipate well, like desert valleys. I'm finding that most educated adults I meet believe almost all of these.

Trump is the president of American decline and surrender
U.S. President Donald J. Trump has announced that he has instructed Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to substantially reduce any future joint military exercises between the United States and South Korea, calling them โ€œtotally inappropriate and hostileโ€ to North Korea, who he claims has been โ€œunthreatening and respectful.โ€

Vanceโ€™s entire political viewpoint is promoting American decline. A weakened United States on the world stage. A weak US dollar. Men working in factories were the hand assemble things the US government pays for. Itโ€™s managed decline as far as the eye can see.
JD Vance wants to end the US dollar's position as a global reserve currency, because he thinks it allows Americans to consume too much and do so too cheaply. Keep that in mind the next time you order a $20 burrito on door dash.

How could it possibly be that using more electricity lowers costs?
One of the most blatant lies weโ€™ve ever heard โ€” data centers are pushing energy prices up. That is not a matter of debate, itโ€™s a fact.

Elon Musk, on his first day at DOGE, found the specific programs that would result in the most Black and brown people dying and immediately cut them. By 2030, there will be an estimated 15 million dead because of him, more than half children. Elon Musk is a Nazi mass murderer.
No he isnโ€™t. They lie about this to encourage and justify violence against him. They want to kill him.
