ASFF alumnus Alex Kayode-Kay's (@alexk_kay) 'The Ballad of Olive Morris' is based on an incident in 1969, when Olive Morris tried to prevent a Nigerian diplomat from being arrested.
The activist was born #OnThisDay in 1952.

Happy father's day to my dad Olatunji (pictured on the left). He was the model I used to cast @Jon_Nyati (on the right) as Nigerian diplomat Clement Gomwalk in @BalladMorris. Made sense!

Thank you to Oscar qualifying @mvfilmfestival in America for making @BalladMorris an official selection🙏🏿.Hard to believe my film is in a festival where the Obamas were hanging out last year, because a film from their production company opened the festival. If I can, I'm going💯
THE BALLAD OF OLIVE MORRIS is an official selection at @TheAcademy award qualifying @mvfilmfestival. Last year's opening film was @netflix documentary Descandant from the production company of @BarackObama & @MichelleObama,who were in attendance at festival. So this is huge🙏🏿🔥

Here’s a #ThrowbackTuesday which we’re very proud of at #WCFF. It’s safe to say that @alexk_kay has come a long way since he premiered his film @BalladMorris at @windrush_fest last summer. He has since been nominated for a @bafta which is a great testament to the powerful and timely story he brought to the screen in 2022. We look forward to showcasing many more powerful #windrush stories at #WCFF2023
