CHANGE THE HOUR, CHECK THE POWER!
As we turn our clocks back, take a moment to check your home’s smoke & carbon monoxide (CO) alarms! ✅ Replace the batteries if needed. ✅ Test your alarms to make sure they’re working. ✅ Replace any alarms that have reached their expiry date.
Let’s make this Halloween a treat for everyone! 🍬 Stay safe, stay visible, and have a spooktacular night! 🎃
Fire Fact Friday!
In 2025, Barrie Fire dispatched over 34,679 emergency incidents across 22 municipalities! You can help our dispatchers, too! Know your location, understand what constitutes an emergency and keep emergency lines available for those who need assistance
Our firefighters are ready to respond when you need us, but in a fire emergency, every second matters! Working smoke alarms provide the warning you need and a practiced home escape plan helps ensure everyone knows how to get out.
We're ready to respond. Are you ready to escape?
COSTUME CUES: BE BRIGHT, BE SEEN!
Keep these tips in mind for a safer Halloween: Add bright colours or reflective tape for extra visibility. Choose snug, flame-resistant fabrics. Avoid long capes & loose sleeves that could pose a tripping or fire hazard.

🦃🍂 Happy Thanksgiving from Barrie Fire! 🚒🧡
As we gather with family and friends this Thanksgiving, we want to remind everyone to celebrate safely! Keep an eye on what's cooking, set timers, stay in the kitchen and keep anything that can burn away from the stove.

Meet Exit Ethan
His superpower? Keeping the way out clear. Never charge e-bikes, e-scooters or other battery-powered devices in hallways, doorways or near exits where they could block your escape. In a fire, every second counts. Make sure you always have a clear way out.
#FPW2026
Meet Warning-Sign Willow ⚠️🔋
Her superpower? Spotting the signs that something isn’t right.
Stop using a device, battery or charger if you notice swelling, leaking, strange smells, unusual heat, popping sounds or damage. If something seems wrong, don’t ignore it.
#FPW2026
Meet Hard-Surface Hayden 📱⚡
His superpower? Knowing the safest place to charge.
Always charge phones, tablets and other devices on a hard, flat surface where heat can escape and avoid charging on beds, couches, pillows or under blankets.
#FPW2026
Meet Unplug Uma 🔌⚡
Her superpower? Knowing when it’s time to unplug.
Unplug chargers and devices when they’re fully charged, avoid overnight or unattended charging, and don’t leave chargers plugged in when they’re not being used.
#FPW2026
Meet Charger Chase ⚡🔌
His superpower? Making sure the right charger is used for the right device.
Using the charger that came with your device, or one approved by the manufacturer, can help you to charge safely. Always look for ULC, CSA or ETL certification marks.
