This is something @BasedKago said in verbatim btw
Curiosity is one of a person’s most important intellectual virtues, expressed in a drive to understand the world, oneself, and the laws of existence. It is nourished by respect for truth, sustained by critical thinking, and is one of the main foundations of complete self-realization and a flourishing life.

A Kenyan developer @0x3Matt has built a virtual replica of Nairobi to make apartment hunting easier. Imagine exploring different neighbourhoods before physically visiting a property. Would you use it?

ቤላን በአማርኛ ያናግሯት። Talk to Bella in Amharic 🇪🇹 AI agents should work for everyone independent of they language. Thats why we are building Bella. Bella is an AI assistant that lives in your chat. Talk to her in your language, by text or voice, and she gets real work done: your calendar, email, documents, sheets and reminders. Yonas just finished his tourism degree in Bahir Dar. He wants a front desk job at a hotel, and the application has to be in English. So he sends Bella a voice note in Amharic. She asks about his background, writes his cover letter in Google Docs with his two years guiding on Lake Tana up front, sends him the link, and reminds him before the deadline. Every reply is an Amharic voice note. Say hi on Telegram 👉 t.me/usebellabot

Mashujaa Day: What Does It Take to Keep Freedom Alive? In 2009, I first walked past the Kengeleni Bell near Kongowea Market in Mombasa, while exploring ideas that would become Eco-Pesa. The bell marks the history of Frere Town, built by Africans liberated from slavery. In 1889, £3,500 was paid to those relinquishing claims over 1,442 people. That's roughly £584,000 in today's British purchasing power, or **KSh 100 million**. The money went to former enslavers, not the people rebuilding their lives. Generations later, much of Frere Town's original land was transferred to other interests. Today, the surrounding economy is full of wealth: farmers, fishers, traders, carpenters, transporters, caregivers and countless other skilled people. What if we brought together KSh 100 million in real commitments to deliver local goods and services? That's the idea behind the Frere Freedom Market, connecting locally stewarded markets where people can exchange food, skills, services and productive commitments. My experiences around Kongowea and working with Tendai Lewa Mtana and communities practicing Chikola and Dhome have given me enormous confidence in what people can accomplish together. Thank you, Tendai, for helping us recognize and steward the wealth already among us. This Mashujaa Day, let's honor those who fought for freedom by strengthening our capacity to sustain it. What can we build together with the resources we already have? willruddick.substack.com/p/m…

Most existing financing infrastructure lends to farmers against title deeds, bank statements and payslips. Smallholders rarely have these, yet their farms produce every season and are viable investments. This is a major obstacle to helping farmers scale into commercial agriculture. Traditional finance looks for data most farmers don't hold, and overlooks the farm data that would show they're worth lending to. I'll be at @RotaryNairobiS tomorrow, Wednesday 14th Oct, to talk about that gap and how @Antugrow is closing it, using our farm data infrastructure to build agri-based credit scores lenders can trust. Grateful for the invite! Ad astra! #AntuGrow #SmartShamba
Small farms grow most of Africa's food, yet the majority have no access to reliable credit. Lack of agri-data prevents underwriting agriculture so capital still hesitates to treat it as a worthy investment. Learn about how to get money for your farm at this Wednesday's meeting

Thanks @moneyacademyKE ! Looking forward to some great conversations! Truth is, Kenyan farms make money every season, but lenders can't price what they can't see and will default to asking for bank statements and payslips. That blind spot is a big part of why agriculture stays underfunded. At @Antugrow we're building the data infrastructure that gives lenders a verified view of farm performance, so farmers can be underwritten based on data they can actually produce. See you there!
Looking forward to an incredible presentation this Wednesday evening on how to get more agricultural productivity and money for farmers by @papyrusleaf of @Antugrow and @smartshambani
