Hat-tip to @sebs_tweets - the budget, policies, and general loathing of enterprise by this government is helpfully explained and colour-coded in these contrasting graphs
Sir Patrick Stewart had huge success in both Star Trek and X-Men (to name but two productions) but when we saw him he was just one of two tramps...both waiting for another tramp who never showed. One of the best..very sad 💔 #WaitingForGodot #Godot @captheatres

Firstly, props to this guy for not pulling his punches. Worth the watch.
Any civilised society is built on the back of people like this. And if he does well, sells more pies, opens more pie shops, employs more staff, then everyone wins.
But clearly, this government isn’t interested in that. They want to squeeze businesses like this for every last penny of tax revenue.
It’s prophetic in some ways, you can choose to grow the pie or take an increasingly smaller slice of the same one.
One leads to abundance, the other to ruin.

Estimates for the number of Scots who died in WW1 typically range from 100,000 to about 135,000–147,000, depending on how casualties are counted.

A pre-Budget reminder that the economic burden of corporate taxes is always borne by real people, not by businesses, 'Big Oil', or banks... 👇
Ahead of John Healey's first Budget, a reminder that companies don’t pay tax - people do. And that also applies to energy suppliers and to banks.
In more technical terms, companies are only legal entities and cannot bear the economic burden of tax themselves. Tax increases are therefore always passed on to real people.
Shareholders will bear some of the cost through lower profits and dividends, although many 'ordinary' people own shares through their pension funds.
But customers will also pay through higher prices, while employees will face lower wages.
Everyone may lose if companies cut jobs and investment or move activity overseas.
So, whenever someone says, “companies should pay their fair share” or “tax banks, not workers”, ask them where the money will really come from… 🤔

We hope you are all keeping safe out there.
Our Roads team is currently dropping off around 300 sandbags to Main Street, Largs. These will be located on the wide pavement space opposite the train station. If we don't have space to drop off all pallets, the rest will be deposited at the taxi rank outside train station (no train travel). We expect these to be available from around 12:30pm
A second truck is being loaded and four more pallets taken to Dockhead Street area around the junction of Chapelwell Street in Saltcoats. These will also available from (or before) 12:30.
