how your brown face
glistened with the smiles
that trapped the hearts
of black lovers
and promised big kola nuts soon
or dowry
Remember mother
how household tasks
and kids decorated your
lowly home
while kitchen smells
and palaver sauce
greeted strangers
Stand back and see your day
phase away
amid the raisings of our
half-nude skirts
not only that
creamed half-black, half-women
