After 100 counties visited, 400 campaign stops, and 30,000 miles driven, the only thing left was for voters to have their say. Tonight, they've done that. I thank everyone who supported me and this campaign in ways large and small.
As Democrats, we must now turn our focus to November. I'm committed to helping elect Rachel Hunt as our next lieutenant governor and to electing fellow Democrats up and down the ballot.
The future of our state depends on it. In 2024, we're not going to let Republicans take us ONE STEP BACK!

Dion and I are heartbroken to hear of the passing of Gov. Hunt. His legacy will live long after him, a testament to his greatness and heart for service. Our prayers are with Mrs. Hunt, Rachel, and the entire family. May God grant them peace.

I can think of no one who shaped North Carolina’s recent successes as much as Governor Jim Hunt. Governor for 16 years, he was a visionary who founded Smart Start, raised teacher pay, protected air quality, and created the NC Biotech Center. On a personal level, he was a mentor and dear friend. Anna and I are keeping Carolyn, Rachel, and the entire Hunt family in our thoughts and prayers. May Governor Hunt’s memory be a blessing. He certainly was for North Carolina.

Joe Lieberman and I didn’t always see eye-to-eye, but he had an extraordinary career in public service, including four decades spent fighting for the people of Connecticut. He also worked hard to repeal “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” and helped us pass the Affordable Care Act. In both cases the politics were difficult, but he stuck to his principles because he knew it was the right thing to do. Michelle and I extend our deepest condolences to Hadassah and the Lieberman family.
