Australian researchers screened 4,198 studies and pooled seven randomised controlled trials that put men on calorie-restricted diets, lasting anywhere from 1 to 52 weeks, and measured what happened to their testosterone.
In overweight and obese men, cutting calories raised total testosterone in 3 of the 4 trials. In normal-weight, healthy men it decreased. Testosterone fell significantly in 2 of the 3 trials.
The researchers believe the mechanism is fat tissue itself, which converts testosterone to estradiol (estrogen) by means of the enzyme aromatase and produces inflammatory proteins that supress testicular function. If you get rid of the fat, you get rid of the estrogen and the inflammation.
The conclusion: calorie restriction "affects testosterone concentrations in men and this effect depends on their body mass index."

Brain dead. No understanding of second order effects. "Let everyone do drugs." We tried that with marijuana. Now he wants to legalize even harder drugs. He should move back to California rather than jibber jabber from a red state he fled to.
I used to agree with Joe Rogan that people should be able to gamble, do drugs, whatever they want. Then I realized that free will is an illusion and addicts don’t know they’re addicts until they try it for the first time.
Rogan’s reason for defending gambling is he used to hang out in a pool hall with gamblers, and if someone couldn’t handle it, then just stay away.
The problem is these gambling ads are EVERYWHERE now, and the apps are constantly with you, sending you notifications to gamble just a little bit more.
People are gambling their money away on sports and their life away on drugs, and Rogan’s answer is to let them do it.
