Na Hong-jin’s HOPE is somehow even more electric on a rewatch! Knowing where the story is heading means you can just sit back and appreciate how insanely well made the whole thing is. The camera work, blocking, sound, scale of the action… there is so much going on, and it rocks!

Hoyeon completely steals the film for me. She’s still so early in her career and somehow walks into this huge production and owns the whole fucking thing. The physicality, the intensity, the way she can completely take over a scene without saying much. She is unbelievable in this

The film itself is preposterous but it felt like a throwback to Paul Verhoeven’s HOLLOW MAN to me, for better or worse. There are holes in logic here bigger than the Grand Canyon, but it’s an entertaining ride if you relinquish. Also the body horror is surprisingly effective too!

Brilliant film! MOANA meets K-POP DEMON HUNTERS by way of TURNING RED Genuinely had us both laughing throughout, but the kid was properly scared by the big bad! No easy feat as her favourite films are Coraline and A Nightmare Before Christmas 😂 We might go see it again!
