It was an honor to work with a fantastic group of former Allis lab scientists in writing this tribute to Dave. We did our best to illuminate his incredible legacy as a scientist and mentor. C. David Allis (1951–2023) sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
So shocked and devastated to hear the news about my PhD mentor and best cheerleader, Dave Allis, PhD. Will always think of him when I see this Dave-made gift in my office. Great show, Dave. You are missed.

How does a small fragment of planarian regenerate an appropriately proportioned complete animal?
As part of my PhD project I attempted to address this question with @Planaria1 @fg_mann , Eric Ross, & Sean McKinney @ScienceStowers @HHMINEWS

For those that are curious about the Easter egg in the photo below, you can buy your own wearable art by @S_Nowotarski here:

The Duncan lab did its best to give @awormwelcome to the OP Dr. Rachel Roberts-Galbraith the last 2 weeks! Her positive energy restored our scientific souls and we can't wait for her to come back. #SECFacultyTravel
Bittersweet announcement because it's great to see this published, but I'll miss the regular "working" chats with @S_Nowotarski. And of course @Planaria1, whose commitment to science and scientists made it happen.
On this #wormWednesday, excited to share that our paper describing a newly isolated Girardia planarian is now available at @Dev_Bio_Journal!
Beautiful graphical abstract created by my awesome co-first author @S_Nowotarski.

We've also updated our preprint:

Image of the Week continues! This week we will feature an image from Steph Nowotarkski, PhD, a postdoc in the Sánchez Alvarado lab at the Stowers Insitute for Medical Research. Please retweet! @Planaria1 @S_Nowotarski @ScienceStowers
Thought of a question for you during my run today @PracheeAC: how many miles will it take to calm your anxiety to a level that allows any productivity?
I’m thinking double digits and/or a two run day....

Interested in E2, sex differences, and/or injestive behaviors? Finishing a PhD in behavioral neuroscience, biology, or a related field soon? If so the Santollo Lab is looking for a postdoc! DM for more info and check out our website: i-m.mx/drjesss/jsantollo/
Perhaps the best part of this manuscript is that it stems from a discovery made by curious undergraduate students. Enough can't be said about the value of that curiosity and the mentorship of people like @DavidAngeles13 and @Planaria1. Such an awesome story!
A new species of planarian flatworm from Mexico: Girardia guanajuatiensis: preprint that arose of the wonderful science workshop I taught with @ClubesCienciaMx and @Planaria1 and where I met so many talented students, now newly minted authors! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Super excited to share my first preprint! I have to agree with @jpcleland, these planarians are beautiful and fascinating...biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Not only is this my first preprint, but thanks to the artistic eye of my co-first author @S_Nowotarski, it is definitely the most beautiful paper on which I will ever be an author.

Come work with us on the biochemistry and enzymology (and/or biology) of Protein Arginine Methyltransferases. Major cancer relevance, basic studies. Phase separation? Who knows... #PRMTs #postdoc #sciencejob jobrxiv.org/job/albert-einst… DM me or email in ad
1/6 Here are a few of my own action items, thanks to @thetracysimone for the inspiration!
5/6 When I was in 3rd/4th grade, my best friend was a black girl named Darnell. Her color wasn't that notable, as our school was pretty diverse. What was notable was that her mom was a doctor. I was so impressed. I didn't know any other moms (or women) who were doctors.
6/6 I don't have a link for that last one. But I can tell you it made a huge impact on me (even if I became a different kind of doctor in the end👩🔬). Her example matters; her life matters. #BLACK_LIVES_MATTER
