Taking a break from regularly scheduled programming to speak on the heaviness of this last week after the Silver Rail Elementary shooting. A message from me and my wife Emily: Our hearts have been heavy beyond words this week. Our family has direct ties to Silver Rail and spends a significant amount of time in Bend every year. We in the Annunciation family have been afforded immense support and resources, and we ask that you consider sharing that generosity with Silver Rail. My wife Emily will be posting in the comments the local fundraisers that we are aware of. As parents who were running into our children’s school when a shooting took place, we will also make a plug here to know of and contribute to the work of Sandy Hook Promise. They have developed methods that have actively prevented shootings: sandyhookpromise.org/ And as we say, when you pray move your feet. With immense love for our family and friends in the Silver Line community and Bend, Aaron and Emily

New in PN: The old kingmaker magic is gone "Trump simply wades into any and every contest with flatulent assurance, endorsing anyone who most shamelessly flatters him. And so he repeatedly finds himself blessing scoundrels, abusers, and liars — his own people, in other words." publicnotice.co/p/trump-endo…

"By voting to confirm him, Republicans are endorsing all of this. They are putting their stamp of approval on a Justice Department that investigates the president’s enemies, protects his friends, and treats every question of law as a question of loyalty first. It’s a grotesque perversion of America’s legal system, and it’s frankly beyond anything Roy Cohn could have imagined." publicnotice.co/p/todd-blanc…
